There is apparently 8 in one little area near me so I'm quite lucky to see these little fellas quite a lot ??? there a black squirrel a few mile from me according to a woman who sees it a lot... I know this'll probably sound a bit silly, but to me red squirrels look more squirrely than those pudgy faced greys lol. I think it's because reds have a sharper, leaner face/head. Tiercel, that one in your garden looks like one which visits the bird feeder in the cottage we stay in on holiday in Dartmoor. My four year old daughter calls him Fatty! Apparently they are a mutation of the greys. There is (or was) a study, but some of the links seem dead right now.
