pesky1972 5,220
Was out the back and heard starlings alarm calling and then flocking up so I knew there was a hawk about. I walked back into the house and seconds later the missus shouted to me that there was a hawk in the garden so I literally missed the kill by seconds. I know this isn't a rare sight nowadays, certainly not round me, but the day I don't get a buzz out of watching a spar on a kill they might as well just stick me in my box. Anyways, here's a few photos I got....

Neal 1,857
I always know when they've moved back in to my local wood (for some reason they don't use it all year round) as there are suddenly a lot more pigeon kills in evidence with tell-tale hawk signs. Beautiful and great photos!

Neal 1,857
I can understand why people like goshawks so much but for me a sparrowhawk wins every time. Maybe it's for the same reason I prefer whippets to greyhounds and bantams to full sized chickens...because I'm only 5' 6"! One of the most memorable experiences of my life was watching a pair of them effortlessly weaving in and out of dense woodland in Cumbria...beautiful acrobats!
pesky1972 5,220
Had another one visit tonight, looks like a young bird. Only got a few blurry snaps off before it spotted the big ginger moggy stalking up to it..., bast4rd. Thought I'd post them anyway.
