Laminated Stocks

i am the proud owner of a TX200HC left hander in walnut .177 , i was looking at a few pics of laminated stocks on here , and was wondering if anyone knows where to get a laminated for my tx and the rough price ?

Ill be interested too... many will think your out of your mind though mate, laminating a sexy bit of timber like that.

A few minutes with a circular saw and some glue, you could make your own.

 

How durable are they? Do they delaminate like plywood (which is the old name for laminated)

You could get it hidro dipped!

Waste of a good stock though:(

I was reading a post the other day from Si Pitterway where he said one of the regrets he has over having a laminate stock on his HW 100 KT is that it marks up easily in the hunting, working side of things.

If you are only target shooting great but for hunting out in fields and woods imo it's a no goer ,its not like wood where you can rub it down and re oil

The trouble with laminated stocks is when you mark them or chip them (more the chip) and you get water on it ie rain it gets under the lacquer and turns gray once this starts it spreads and not even i can put it right

 

there nice to look at but a night mare out in the field

 

and some times more than twice the price of a normal stock

 

ME,,,, would not have one given to me ,,,,walnut is a far better wood and some stunning wood at that

thanks for the info folks .... yes i do hunting rather than target stuff ......looks like the laminate isent a good idea then .... ahhhh well ... i will have to look out for a tactical one then ...

I do like my laminated stock on the HW100KT but to be honest, I am really careful in the field with it, too careful perhaps. If buying the gun again, it would be a walnut stock for durability. I think I may end up using it for target stuff instead of field use and my soon to be Rapid and hopefully a Wildcat will be the field guns. I'll get me hat and duck.

i wish the hw 110 wasn't in when i called in the rdf a couple of months ago phil!

cos id of walked out with the wildcat... the 110 is good but its no fx

To be honest Si, the Impact doesn't do it for me, perhaps a little too military for me although extremely clever and a friend in London has the first in the UK and loves it but the Wildcat has been in my mind for some time now and after shooing one at the Game Fair last week, I am smitten with them...........................I WILL HAVE ONE, NEED MORE MONEY.......
