Rez 4,957
Went down stairs this morning for the coffee pot. Heard some magpies right kicking off outside. They've been bullyin' some local thrush family at the end of the garden over the past for weeks, thought, right.... Snuck into the garage to get my HM being the quietist. Crept back to the kitchen. Still, a loud bitchin'... normally they've buggered off with there sixth sense of danger the little sods. Out to the garden and this made me feel like Id missed the boat. Doesn't care if its a clean kill or not. It'll just eat its catch alive. Absolute savage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOTOlBC94tA&feature=youtu.be [Apologies for the language... obviously epic sight, never seen anything like this before... IN THE GARDEN.] 6 Quote Link to post

Rez 4,957
Do they normally take prey larger than a sparrow then? I would assume they'll grab oat that takes there fancy, bigger or smaller than a pouncy sparrow. Quote Link to post

Underdog 2,337
Good video. Yep hen sparrow hawk. They will take woodies and pheasant poults. Reminds me of when a Maggie was mobbing a squirrel in a pine. I got the Maggie and as it tumbled down through the pine the squirrel chased it down and grabbed it and fanged it all over! Then I shot the squirrel? Quote Link to post

tomburras 2,729
Great! - often have one visit my bird table. The other month I was sat out watching the birds visit the table and one came over the fence by an inch and tried to take a sparrow on the edge of the bird bath. It misjudged and clonked into the side of the bowl! and the sparrow escaped. 2 Quote Link to post
