neems 2,406
DB be on shortly no doubt he can trace his back to adam an eve Mitochondrial eve whose dna we all share.... Except neems of course Give it a few thousand years and we'll probably be able to say the same for Genghis Khan's mother... Than we'll have the out of Mongolia theory Let's hope there'r still some Russian scientists who don't care about the narrative,to debunk that too. shepp 2,285
My mum had her family tree done going back to approx 1750 all born bred lived in prescot merseyside watchmakers /clockmakers .worked on lord derbys estate must all have been home birds never moved anywhere. The old fella has traced a bit of his just got as far as his grandmother came over from ireland then he packed in looking anymore. Similar story for what I know of my ancestry. From what I've seen from my uncle's research the vast majority, going back 400 years are from Lincs/E.Mids, most within a stones throw and were generally farmers. I can't remember much detail, something I must do one day. At a guess, if my ancestors really were as rooted in this area as I'm led to believe, it looks like we're probably a typical mix of Anglo-Saxon/Briton with a healthy dose of Scandinavian from the Danelaw. There's a bit of speculation that we might have a bit of Romany in too. There's no mistaking my Romany lineage... My nickname at school was Abdul lol I don't know how much you can take from physically observable traits but it is interesting. I've also read that there's a group of Norwegians that have relatively dark skin/hair for Scandinavia? Counter to the stereotypical Swede (which is probably what most think of as Scandi) - tall, blonde hair, blue eyes and Persil-pale skin! That's interesting as my wife said a very similar thing when researching my looks as I have dark skin black hair but green eyes... Everyone on my dad's side is dark with green eyes but I do know like I said they were Romany barge gypsies they used to run coal along the trent before the trains took over Do you look like Ronnie Wood

Born Hunter 17,841
Anthropology is a fascinating area of science. That and evolutionary biology are the only other things I'd maybe liked to study properly. What job does she do Kanny? I was having this conversation the other day and other than Uni research what is there in that field?

I was having this conversation the other day and other than Uni research what is there in that field? It's fascinating stuff that's for sure... At the moment she works for a company who design and supply dna testing equipment she's part of the technical support team but it's not really what she wants to make a career out of before that she was doing some work on war graves around Europe helping to identify remains and she would really like to get back to doing that sort of thing once she's settled and set up.
