walshie 2,804
We've got an old external bell/sounder attached to the wall outside which would be handy for hearing the phone when we're on the garden. Trouble is I don't know which wires to run to it. The BT line comes into the house and only the green and green/white wires are connected to the socket. Does anyone know what pair of wires would run the sounder and what points to connect them to in the socket?
bullmastiff 615
It won't work, the old phone bells are analog and new phones are digital. You could probably knock one up by splitting the base for a cordless phone, plugging it into a socket and extending the wires on the speaker?

Mr Wasp 187
Unscrew the faceplate from the master bt socket. On the back of the faceplate there are numbered connectors, your bell wire goes to pin 3 and 5 If your running broadband, you will need to buy an aftermarket faceplate with a built in splitter. Cost is around a tenner for a decent one. I replaced mine and my broadband speed jumped by a third. Edited July 27, 2016 by Mr Wasp
walshie 2,804
Thanks lads. I'll give it a try like Mr Wasp says, but I suspect it won't work like Luke said. Possibly a new bell then and I HATE spending money.
