THE BIG ONE

Recommended Posts

Thats a damn good post bill and you make some interesting points.... a few things that caught my eye...one being the weight....i believe mayweather come fight time is going to have at least 7 lb over hatton....as you know mayweather has fought at this weight for a while now, hatton did once and moved straight back down because it didnt suit him.....mayweather is naturally the bigger man even though he himself started at a lower weight.....this doesnt mean we can expect mayweather to be the stronger man but it does mean that once the weigh in is over mayweather will rehydrate healthier and come fight time be naturally bigger.

I believe the thing that can go in hattons favour is mayweathers tendancy to pull away from punches instead of blocking them, nigel benn had this flaw and was often caught by long reaching punches....if hatton can reach in without getting caught coming in he has a great chance of catching him off balance....its a flaw mayweather has had all his career that has never been corrected, and it could sui hattons style.

Lastly, the point about quality of opposition....i feel mayweather has fought a far better quality of opponent than hatton even though some people question mayweathers quality of opponent.....but ive said before, hatton has been very well managed....without doubt the best 2 opponents hatton has faced is tszyu and castillo....both of who were at the very final stage of their career, what some might call " washed up ".....its always a risk as we then think he has beaten a big name and we make comparisons....calzaghe is the same unfortunately......all that said, hatton has a great chance and the style to beat mayweather, whether he can im not sure, but can only hope.

Hatton to win, i think he has what it takes.

but let me just say this. hes in the US and has to be very convincing. remember Haggler v lenard back in 87 .

Haggler comming forward all the time knocking lenard around, lenard on the back foot picking lovly looking punches but with no venom.

what happend the judges gave it lenard. he was the flashy one, who used the ring , who had the big mouth and was well liked.

but for me lenard wone almost evry round. GOT TO BE CONVINCING TO WIN OVER THERE

Good post as always Gnasher  I agree Hatton has been well "managed" if i'm honest,i never really thought much of him till he beat Tzysu, but he's proven me wrong. The point you make about Ricky having the "style" to beat Mayweather is the crucial thing in this fight. Many writers and ex fighters suggested two or three years ago, that the way to beat Mayweather was with, sustained pressure and closing the distance, thus nullifying his main weapons, speed of hand and feet.I'm sure you've seen the De La Hoya fight and the first Castillo fight, and regardless of Mayweathers trash talk about it being "strategy" he was having problems. Now Ricky is not as technically gifted as De La Hoya, but he has far more ferocity, and stamina, and that i think is what could win him this fight.

You also make a good point about Mayweathers defence,he like Benn,Graham,Hamed, tries to pull away from punches ,but if your reflexes are slightly off,you are in trouble.Remember how many times Hamed was tagged by Kelley?

My main concern is Hatton being cut,we know he has tissue damage around the eyes, and i'm sure Mayweather will use this to his advantage.

If i was betting my house on it,i'd say Mayweather to run to a narrow points victory, but i'm still gonna have a few bob on Ricky by TKO 10

points hatton, mayweather will be sick of the sight of the little terrierafter 12 rounds , but beware , mayweather is the most skillfull dodger of them all,he wont want a fight , he'll just try to cut hatton a s a p and hope for a stoppage, he aint got the power to stop it , good luck to ricky the new , !!!!!! world champ :boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing::boxing: and when he's hit mayweather with all those punches it will be hasta lavista dick head

Yep i make you right bill......the thing giving me doubts is the simple fact that IF mayweather does deal with hatton for the first 5 rounds, what does ricky do then ?....pressure fighters only have one way to fight i just cant see what he will do...whereas mayweather is one of the best when it comes to adapting to his opponents style.....you mentioned benn/graham/naz etc....for me naz and graham had the reflexes to get away with that style.....benn didnt and im not sure mayweather does either....im predicting mayweather to stop hatton around 6 - 9....but id genuinely love to see hatton win,it would be the biggest brit win since turpin/robinson back in the 50,s in my opinion....

As for the leonard - hagler fight....did hagler actually land 1 punch on leonard the whole fight ? if he did i missed it......i won a nice few quid on that fight leonard was around 9 to 1 for a points win....hagler was made for him !

He (Ricky) turned up in a boozer in Glossop in Derbyshire (on his jacks, whilst being a reigning world champion) mythering one of the local tearaways (who had started out with him as a kid and subsequently lost his way to the car thieves)....to get back in the gym and get his act together. More an act of friendship.

Difficult fight to pick, Ricky will take the best shot Mayweathers ever threw, not sure i can say the same for Mayweather. Lots of school Mancs bordered the flight yesterday, i'm looking forward to him walking out to blue moon :notworthy: ....that inner self belief is a funny thing and Hatton is wearing that "who the f**k are you" look.

one day you will speak in english . untill then i will enjoy your posts . hatton will win by ko . ive layed a few quid on it at a lot better odds than the bookeys will give . roll on sunday at 3.48 a time to rejoice .
