Digging/walking Boots

Fell boots can't be beaten IMO.

Nothing to do with being traditional (what's wrong with being traditional anyways) but all about being practical.

Lads talking about boots lasting 3 years, LOL. What about a pair of boots that will last nearly 20 years when hunting 6 days a week.

Yes put cold wet feet! Or insulated dry comfort I know what I'd pick,
comfort wise I'm happy with fell boots and they didn't take much breaking in. Most of my permission is steep hill so they do the job for me. I also have a pair of meindls which I've hated from the start, and they soon leaked

I tried them when I was a hill keeper in Scotland I personally thought they were worse for steep ground and no ankle support, I can alway remember my great granda who was a hill keeper every night when he got in soaking his feet in a basin of warm water next to fire after days in fell boots, lucky new boots are like slipper, or the just don't make feet as tough as they use too haha

I put my Fell boots on while they're wet all the time. In the Summer if I hadn't wore them for a while and they've become hard I submerge them in a bucket of water and put them straight on the next morning. I've always done this with no problems.

I wear welly's when shooting and regularly fill them and they're 3 times the height of Fell boots, so how do you avoid wet feet ? Chest waders ?

The lads hunting on the river don't seem to suffer and some of those men hunt to a brave age. Wet feet are a part of the game and I'd rather have my feet wet in a pair of ankle boots that easy to move in than a pair of knee boots with water sloshing around in them.

Wet feet don't bother, we're not made of sugar.

Ive had my meindle Dovre for only about 5 years and their starting to leak!! I feel well ripped of, so I'm gonna buy some seal skin socks and get another five years out of them.

I've had 3 good seasons out of a pair of meindl dovre extreme gtx. Can't fault them really.Every pair of leather boots need constant treatment to keep them supple and stop them cracking. I'll probably

3 seasons is very good from a pair of boots I would say

You can even brag about wet feet Neil? Haha......I've never heard that before! Haha........Seriously though, the last thing I want when I'm hunting is wet feet & like you I've happily put up with it in the past, but try to avoid when possible now....

Plus fell boots lack the ankle support I like these days.....

The last few seasons if I'm out, it's often 2-3 hours from home, not getting home till late evening.........trying to keep those feet dry & comfy is essential for me now, but like I said in an earlier post, I'm softer now.........& no shame with it! Haha....Atb

Whatever you buy treat them to a weekly rub in this and they'll come up like new and last twice as long

Also works well on gundogs' feet

Thanks for reminding me of that stuff DillyDog - ordered a pot that arrived today as I hadn't seen it in years

After a little online search about other uses; my yardboys new boots are done, about 30 cars have had their black trim restored and a few leather interiors have been improved!

Miraculous stuff that ...

Have used Meindl boots for years !

That should tell you something , .

First had the Borneo for years and around 3 year ago i switched to the Dovre after the fella in the shop selling them to me so to speak !!

Strong + long lasting on the trusty old bulldog 1-3 times a week , .

PS. They old fell boots look horrible ! Remember an english fella on a day out in the west wales country wearing them. I thought no way butt , :cray: .
