stop.end 4,079
I hear what your saying zig one of the bedlington here smashes then and just holds on till she can get a better grip and more ofter than not he's out and on his way otherwise I'm sitting it out waiting for a couple of hours for her to show but she's got the habit of eating them in the toground . What type of bitch did you lose zig shes got a habit of eating them underground. lol Have you never encountered it Stop.End,ive seen it a few times with different breeds over the years, that dog in my avatar would make a right mess of a fox if he were to ground for a long period of time. Nope... but what i have encountered is a fox ferociously contending his territory and a terrier having to defend himself....so hey may be a little bit the worst for wear rather than the fox to be honest. and i have never dug to a terrier which has ate a fox! fat man 4,741
Heard of a man years ago that would feed fox carcass to his dogs after skinning them, his reason for it was that if the terrier happened to get the wrong side of its fox and killed it that it would have no problem in eating its way out rather than been blocked by a dead fox, maybe just hearsay maybe not,who knows. 3 Quote Link to post
pablo esc 1,598
I think a terrier likes to eat his fox and stay with it and different in the way a bull terrier would even though when the pressure on it handle the pain like one and be mute 1 Quote Link to post
pablo esc 1,598
Seen a dog in a wall once and a fierce fox must of had the front of the dog face in tight: caught the dog: as I was looking up the tube I could see the dogs back toes rolling forward a inch and not making a sound Quote Link to post

Heard that a few times it is a common way of a dog getting stuck in a pile fox trys to bolt over the top or side dog takes hold as it passes and kills it trapping the dog in 1 Quote Link to post
russell tuck 127
Iv seen it afew times stop end with one of my bitchs the young bitch out of her had a good first season what will become of her who nows she may get harder as her dam did starting of but her sire could and would kill them in the rock and had spent two and three days in the rocks on a number of occasions. unlacedgecko 1,466
The rock piles sound great sport. Not sure if I have the stomach for it though... Sounds like a good hard leggy terrier is required. I can see how a Bedlington X would be good. Quote Link to post

stop.end 4,079
its amazing how many folk have the same theories/stories of the old fell hunters from books, for rockpiles that yous cant dig yous all seem to have xray vision... no disrespect but how can yous even let on yous know whats going on? I go out equipped to tackle most stuff & out to work dogs and if its realistic no problem, but not all... If farmer or keeper walked me up to a rockpile with my terrier that looked like id never see her/him again and said that's the only hole in the area... say what you like but im heading back to vehicle terrier on lead.... and suggest a few different ways that the predator could be controlled humanely and safely. I know what your saying as I've not done much rock either . But I think it's like earth work none of us know exactly what's going on do we if where honest . But when you've been doing earth or rocks you get used to the sounds noises of what the dogs doing . The dogs tell you a lot about what's going on in both cases . I suppose it's trusting your dog and your self to make the right choice . A try deal with the situation if it go's wrong . Quote Link to post
