russell tuck 127
My uncle used to work beddys in the rock going back a long time now tho, he used to say they was demons in the piles on the working bedlington thread on here there are a couple of serious rock dogs on there and some good earth dogs to both border and lakeland hybrids but they do really well in the rock a little bit of leg is good but they need to be narrow with it atb rt 2 Quote Link to post
Rat face 1,655
I've seen all sizes of terriers working rocks if the dogs got it in them they will find...i like hard dogs for the rocks ...just my preference don't want to be ther days listening to a yapper that doesn't mix because Charlie will sit ther tucked up .. Yes I lost a very good bitch in the rock few years ago she hit them hard an them that dident bolt she would pop out after they was dead...had 7 good seasons with her but because of her working style I sadly lost her I dug for days trying to get down to were I last herd her only to find a dead fox.. Never saw here again .. But been working piles for nearly 20 years and only lost one terrier in piles..had some epic rescue s to in them but for me carnt beat them.. Thats the first time i met you that bud when you just came of the pile trying to get that dog out in the pub at the meeting Quote Link to post

Rat face 1,655
Thats why its always a good idea to be part of a terrier club you never know when you might need them, even if its just a few extra pair of hands Edited July 25, 2016 by Rat face 1 Quote Link to post

Guest Snitch99
Morton who keeps the beddys does tock piles from what I've read. What your experience with terriers in cracks and rocks morton? ✔ Quote Link to post
ziggy 619
Depends on the dog rat face I've had hounds run them to ground an ya stood them back waiting an as soon as the dog makes contact the hounds have dived in an still the fox has bolterd...seen dogs yapping at them most of the day an as soon as its come out you've put a dog in with a bit of a bang with it the fox has bolterd.. Rember once when i was keepering up in Scotland lads had rung me of the next estate saying they had has dog after dog in this crack at bottom of a cliff face an the fox wouldent budge so I went up to try my dog ...when I got ther I dropped my dog in an we all stood ther waiting with the shot guns.. Soon as my old bitch hit him five minutes later he bolterd wobbling down the rock face only to be shot buy one of the guns... The bitch soon found again and I found myself sat up ther most of the night listening to her ragging the carcass I even tryed shouting her out but that never worked ...so I sat ther in the cold bitter wind waiting ..she popped out early hours of the morning.. So I dived on her saying good lass as we do ...an as I was driving down the mountain side you forget you've been ther all that time .. Joys' of hunting 7 Quote Link to post
