Anyone worked for hotpoint or know anyone that does trying to find out the salary ?

I can't stand my company anymore and hotpoint provided all the training for white goods engineers thought it be a good route with my qualifications?

Just go self employed ow- you can pick and choose when/how much work a week you want to do then.the only reason I took a job with a salary was to shut the wife up and to watch my little uns grow up.you will earn big coin if you don't mind working away.I would work for average 9 months of the year and the rest out with the dogs (that I do miss mind, but wouldn't change back as I missed the first 3 yrs of my oldest lad growing up.)You soon get pissed off working as a service engineer mate, try Clarkson and Evans sparkys they do the contracts on most of the big housing sites in wales ;).atb dc

I nearly took a job with them around the time I started on the roads.

If I'm not mistaken they come under indesit. That's who my correspondence was with. I will try to find the emails.

It was £28k salaried. I can't remember what the hours were and there was alot of weekend work.

If you fancy the field service engineer side then have a look at the casino industry. I did it for 3 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. Equipment is a doddle to fix it you're electrically and electronically minded, decent pay and a nice clean atmosphere. But again lots of evening and weekend work.

I think the best job for sparks these days is maintenance work, but a must is to get with a company that does electrical and mechanical. Get qualified as a spark and working experience with A/C heating and plumbing.

This will give a very good income and you can get a static job when older so you won't be breaking your back up till retirement.

Last week went over from self employed installation spark to a static job doing maintenance. At 46 I decided that if I wait until I am in my 50's I might not get the opportunity to make the move.

I took a cut in money but I will have half the work load and a much more pleasant environment to work in.

If I had working mechanical knowledge, then I could have got a similar job but would have been paid an extra £8,000 a year.

My boss really doesn't want eletricians under him at the housing company I work for he's making it difficult for us to get work he would rather see us hanging around than doing work!

Iv got to look at moving jobs I think driving me crazy plus the boy I work with is a miserable b*****d at the best of times
