a lot of people in the pot world would well prefer it stayed unlawful  but the simple truth is banning something has never been an answer at all too anything only creates another problem in the longer run , the only thing we haven't tried banning is politicians, now there's something we might actually benefit from being well shot of :hmm: if I thought weed staying banned would make the earth a better place Id happily vote for it to remain illegal, and stay the way I am, but it won't and that's obvious cos half the world has spoken and its going our way for some reason, even though we been told its wrong for so long

and too clarify I don't need to justify 'being a stoner' too anyone, I don't really see myself as one? Ive worked all my life and payed my taxes, surely I'm free to enjoy myself how I see fit in my own home?

I smoke weed to relax in my own home, maybe in my garden, or maybe at a mates houses, sometimes I even have one when I'm out walking the dog

Do I ask for the ban of alcohol when I have too play dodge the pisshead on a Friday night when I pop out for something too eat? or I cant get sorted at hospital cos its full of drunks on a weekend, or the cost of policing it all, the domestic violence it causes, or all the mess they leave when they go home

I never said you run down religon, i said anyone who doesnt agree with you is ignorant or its there religons fault.

Opinions are like a holes everyone has one.

thats simply not true

At the risk of spilling into another debate where you refuse to answer questions you can't and speak utter bollocks I'm going to leave it there

I've agreed with Wilfs opinions on other matters

And I'm capable of debating with people who are prepared to at least have their opinions challenged

No it doesn't

We've been trying that for decades it doesn't work

You cannot do it

Even In the Phillipines

Where dealers face death it still goes on

Because people still want to take them because their lives are so shit

Bury your head in the sand all you want but there's never an excuse to remain ignorant on a subject

Your view is come from a pious religious viewpoint

Here's a news update

Moses and the burning bush

Drug induced dmt trip

I used to like a good drink when I was a young bloke and single, it was the thing loads of people did round my way and for the formative part of my life it's what some family members did to excess.

Same old regulars up the boozer, a whole range of ages......and then it was time to be a man and set up home.

It was a clear choice, stay as you are and join the ranks or decide to try and build something better, something that came from obvious lessons right in front of my face.

So I packed up booze and got in with building a family and a business.

One is rarely conducive to the other when you need a clear head to make good decisions.

I'm an oik out of south London, expelled at 14, no qulifacations and been around a few bits and mixed in certain circles my whole life upto a certain point.

But common sense and an ethic to graft costs f**k all so I cracked on.........I'm nobody special, but I am pretty proud of what I have done.

I'm 45 and retired, I was a governor of the best junior school in my area up and till I moved away, my kids all do very well indeed at school and are mature beyond their years.

My history, my circumstances have no bearing on my life in as much as I want a repeat performance........in short I didn't want to be a f***ing idiot and chose not to.

If I can then any c**t can and thats a fact, I'm proud of where I came from but I'm prouder still of where I am.

I have an interest and a faith in "God" but my opinions come from experiences and seeing life in the raw.........the fact someone can make an excuse for something nasty and in the next sentence mick something essentially good tells me all I need to know about about arse upwards politically correct thinking.

Circumstances do not define a person, choices do that.

im far from politically correct

But In the last three weeks I've seen three people I knew from childhood die from overdoses

All of them were either abused as kids

I've also read up on it and the incidence of drug abuse or alcohol abuse is much higher in abused kids or poor backgrounds

I don't judge people for their bad starts in life and have a there but for the grace of god go I attitude to it

We now also have examples in countries that have put into practice a decriminalised or legalised attitude and we can see that works better than anything we have tried yet you still insist that doing away with all drugs is the answer

It's not

We can see that at work

America is in the grip of a heroin and analogue options abuse epidemic despite spending trillions on the war against drugs

Mate, you make a clear and concise case why it's your beleife and I understand that......I just don't agree with it.

I saw a woman on the telly a while back, she had been the victim of a vicious gang rape.......she is making it her mission to get out there and help other people like her.

She isn't shooting up and saying "poor me".......she has chosen to not let her circumstances define her life.

Lads in here I read about, were living in the valleys at about the time the coal industry went to shit.......they could have propped up the bar on the jam roll for the next 30 years moaning about thatcher but they got off their arse and did something and now I read them write with pride about putting their kids through uni etc.

Human being as a rule choose the path of least resistance, I don't think we should help them do that.

I see your point

""Human being as a rule choose the path of least resistance, I don't think we should help them do that."

And I agree with you

People sometimes need help to see that

And help to mend their broken lives

Help they don't always get

I've seen it too many times

But you've your thoughts and I have mine

I shall leave it there ?

What would your strategy be, mate?

Remove some of the easy choices, make it easier to do the right things than the shit things.

It's just something I have an opinion on mate, can't say as I have ever thought about a policy in depth if I'm honest.

Fair comments. Nothing wrong with sensible discourse.

IMHO it's about improving the situation while addressing everything from personal liberty, all the way through to sensible enforcement. In the US you can get a average sentence of 81 months for drug possession, but you can walk away from jail 3 months, into a 6 month sentence, for raping an unconscious woman. I think that's worth another look at the War On Drugs on it's own.
