I've said I smoke here to Walshie, I have a great job etc, my tenuous reason is I like a joint now and then :tongue2:

It's legal here in the sense you are allowed to grow it and smoke it (with a couple of restrictions).

Anyone who has been to Barcelona will know that the place is hanging with weed, all over the town, parks, beaches etc. It's just as normal as having a coffee or a beer.

Even old folk don't give a shit, I've been asked several times by some of the oldies in the bars I visit, if I can spare them one for later..... cheap fuuckers, go buy your own I say

It's great to see the usual suspects finding tenuous reasons to justify their habit.

No little vices you want to be open about then walshie?

I can't see anyone on this thread trying to justify smoking some weed, that would be as silly as trying to justify drinking a bottle of red........everyone has there reasons to wind down ;-)

I am a member of one, rarely visit it mind..... I have a friend

The clubs here work on a co-op basis; Every adult in Spain use to have the legal right to grow 2 plants. When you sign up, you defer that right to the club, who grow on your behalf.

They recently changed laws in Spain on the amount you can grow. Supposedly you can now grow as much as you want but it has to be out of public view, so terraces and balconies for example are off limits.

You've answered your own question, in industries that have strict drink and drug policies those policies will stay the same regardless of the legality of weed, just like alcohol is legal but if you test positive you'll get a 5 year ban from the industry (incidentally that seems really harsh, what industry is it, railway?)

Yes the rail industry but even in construction it's a sackable offence by most companies.

Alcohol is out the system much quicker than weed so it's pretty easy to get away with it unless you've gone overboard, I wonder what would be the legal limit for weed in the workplace.

The last job I had was ferrying passengers to and from the airport from various oil refinery's and gas terminals about the place here. As you can expect, these installations have strict drug and alcohol controls in place. The main one I had to enter now use a swab test rather than the piss test and it only detects decent drug use. The half life of weed in the salvia is measured in hours rather than weeks so it gives a much clearer indication of whether someones on drugs when they turn up to work. Think it only detects weed use over the past 12-24 hours depending on how much you've used. 12 hours being light use and 24 being heavy.

Try telling that to your neighbours next time they catch you nicking knickers off their line

It was the weed that made me do it judge!!

Now that's what I call a tenuous reason to justify your habit!

Nobody has been willing to answer my question regarding employment should it ever be legalised, every firm I know has a strict drugs & alcohol policy. In my sector you get tested positive for either and it's a 5 year ban from the industry no questions asked.

Yes the rail industry but even in construction it's a sackable offence by most companies.

Alcohol is out the system much quicker than weed so it's pretty easy to get away with it unless you've gone overboard, I wonder what would be the legal limit for weed in the workplace.

The industry I work in has zero tolerance on drugs and major rules on alcohol, despite the availability in Nevada. No measurable amount of impairing drugs in your system (unless you're not working and under medical supervision) and the alcohol limit is 0.04% which is half of what it is for the general public.

I have no issue with that. It's a private company and they have every right to set the rules as they see fit.

The next question would be if they did legalise it, and places of business enacted a zero tolerance policy, would you stay at your job or move to someone more tolerant? Personally I'd rather stick with what I'm doing and curtail my vices to the industry.
