Phil Lloyd 10,738
One of my better lurchers was Saluki blooded.... I have always been of the same mind where certain hybrids are concerned,...play to their strengths,.ignore their weaknesses... Same as with Greyhound pups, destined for the working life, as opposed to just Coursing and Racing,..or the Saluki youngster,..brought out with the ferrets and nets as a babe.... I carry on regardless,..and never forget my own unwritten rule,"Don't ever tell them,..that they ain't a Lurcher" Edited July 27, 2016 by Phil Lloyd 7 Quote Link to post
shaaark 10,709
One of my better lurchers was Saluki blooded.... I have always been of the same mind where certain hybrids are concerned,...play to their strengths,.ignore their weaknesses... Same as with Greyhound pups, destined for the working life, as opposed to just Coursing and Racing,..or the Saluki youngster,..brought out with the ferrets and nets as a babe.... I simply carry on regardless,... and never forget my own unwritten rule ,..."Don't ever tell them,..that they ain't a Lurcher". Over the years I have sometimes foolishly ignored some of what you've just said, 'ignore their weaknesses' etc. And formed my opinions/thoughts about saluki bred dogs on the one saluki bred bitch that I owned a little over 30 years ago. Although only having a 1/4 saluki in her dam and an 1/8 in the sire, she displayed all the negative attributes that I'd read, and sometimes still do, about saluki crosses, and salukis. No matter what I tried she seriously tested my patience and ground me down til I could take no more, and we had to part company. But since those times a lot of different saluki bloodlines are now available to the running dog enthusiast. So things are looking better for those with an interest in these types, possibly?
