dam of sonic..at the time I wanted to buy the bitch but it was kevins choice as it was his birthday money and his dog of the future,i think he may have better judgement than me,lol..in fairness to the girl I was talking to her and we agreed on 120,when she saw kevin take the money from his pocket she asked what was going on,I told her it was his birthday and he was buying the dog from his money, she went and reduced the dog again to 80 euros,Wasnt that some bargain

Great pics, thanks for putting them up jigsaw.

The girl was a decent sort by the sound of it.

The mother of pups is a nice saluki, did you ever go back to her to see how she was getting it on with her?

Does he sniff out those mushrooms jigsaw? IMO those are the tastiest wild mushrooms and their aren't many similar looking ones that aren't edible. The only real drawback with them is that everything else likes them too. (Cows, slugs 'n snails, goats etc.)

no messing but he finds some strange shit, hes found earths dug deep in cover that you couldnt see unless you carried a chain saw, bloody injured birds, killed a pigeon in front of a load of school kids one frosty morning,i was ashamed of my life, coursed and caught another pigeon in a local public park in front of dozen of people,I brought them home but couldnt make out if they were safe,i put a topic up here and it leaned towards avoiding them

Those are ceps, also known as "boletus edulis". Google the name. I spend a fair bit of time hunting those in autumn. Most of the bolete family are edible and those that aren't are either extremely bitter or are unlikely to cause more than a mild stomach upset. There are easy ways to rule out the ones you shouldn't eat and those two in your photo would probably set you back 30 quid to buy in London, if in good condition.

(Knowledgeable chefs love them and most Eastern Europeans seem to know and relish them too)

Your first x is a gem Jigsaw. Know a man that breeds the odd litter near me out of mike, if rared right, they come good.

Nice allrounders for ireland.

Wouldn't they make nice allrounders anywhere? Not trying to be clever, just interested. Most places around the uk have thousands of acres of land broken up into smaller tracts of land and fields etc

Id say they would. with the correct upbringing entering ect

Sometimes in a litter, you get some more like the greyhound, along with greyhound running problems, but if you can pick one that has best of both worlds, it should be a handy dog i reckon.

With sonic I started him ferreting, then foxing with a pack of hounds, then day walking up big rabbits, and anything else we fancied, dogs can adapt to any type of work I believe on most grounds if given half a chance, and with success at the beginning of his career, let em be hunters, and they will be hunters,i prefer a big type dog 25'' tts at least, big boned and bred right, 1 dog for all game

Got you. Was tempted by a 'coursing bred' type a while back, never again. A first cross I'd still be interested in. As in you know what you're getting, so you've only got the two breeds to throw their characteristics, rather than being fobbed off with a made up pile of make believe dogs that aren't even in the dog's line etc! I do still like some of these salukis and genuine sal/greys.

By the way, I know there are some very good coursing bred types about with more than saluki and greyhound in, just sort of making a point
