in the early 70s my dogs were saluki cross beddy grey and used mainly for coursing and some mouching / ferreting it was not till the late 70s that I started lamping and found sal crosses plenty good enough and you still have a dog for day time big rabbits most of the negativity about this cross was spawned by plummer and died with him . back then all the rabbiters would of died rather than use saluki blood how times have changed.

my oul feller has done a lot of ferreting with me,and was successful at it too.

he also did this

and a whole lot of this

and a fair ammount of this

sometimes hes done this too

which came as a shock to me too lol

and a lot of this too

but most importantly hes still doing a lot of this as hes close to 9 year old and will be transformed from a hunter to a house pet when that day comes.I have had 2 or 3 superb charges with a few very decent dogs in between,as well as a few downright failures,but he is the best ive ever had the privelege to keep.....Im on the look out for a replacement for him at themoment and might have come across the pup I want.time will tell.As with most dogs ,if ye just put them on whatever you chase they oblige,no need to tell em they cant.

hes been a decent dog,Im going to find it hard to replace him I think,and I dread the day he snuffs it..im fairly hardened over the years of keeping them but hes found a special place in my heart and my sons(whos his official owner).

this is what the next mutt can look forward to once he makes the grade,a long life of work and pampering...

I remember the litter and the write up you did when you got the pup, it was good read and you did well with the pup over the years, fair play.

I liked the dam very much, she sounded a useful sort, do you still have pics of her by any chance jigsaw ?

dam of sonic..at the time I wanted to buy the bitch but it was kevins choice as it was his birthday money and his dog of the future,i think he may have better judgement than me,lol..in fairness to the girl I was talking to her and we agreed on 120,when she saw kevin take the money from his pocket she asked what was going on,I told her it was his birthday and he was buying the dog from his money,she went and reduced the dog again to euros,Wasnt that some bargain

Does he sniff out those mushrooms jigsaw? IMO those are the tastiest wild mushrooms and their aren't many similar looking ones that aren't edible. The only real drawback with them is that everything else likes them too. (Cows, slugs 'n snails, goats etc.)
