Homemade Lures

I make my own floating Devon minnows catch far more trout and sea trout on them then shop bought ones. Dead easy to make. All you need is hacksaw, electric drill, 3mm+8mm drill bit, wood file and glue.

Get some narrow garden cane cut it to what ever length you want, I like 1 1/4" for trout. Place in drill and use wood file to shape ends. Then use the hacksaw to cut the slots for the fins, I use the small plastic fins from Devon minnows shop and glue them in place, with the 3mm drill bit run it down centre of cane. At this point I some times put a small length of 3mm plastic tube down centre of cane to act as a bush because my Devon's run on mono (spin better). Use the 8mm bit to counter sink hole at the front of the minnow (this allow the minnow to catch the small currents in the water and dart from side to side). Then just paint in your favourite colours my is electric blue with a thin silver strip, place small 3-4mm plastic bead and tie on treble.
