Missus had a client in yesterday who was flying out to turkey today on holiday. Mrs says to her, surely you're going to cancel? Woman says oh no can't let the kids down on their holiday, and when your times up your times up!! Wtf is that way of thinking, I'm all for not being scared to go anywhere type of thing, but taking your kids into a country which is at civil war and unhinged anyway is madness IMO World's fooked but I wouldn't be going to Turkey for a holiday for love nor money. They say the Coup has ended though our own jets are still grounded because of questions about control of the sky's. They are also saying that the "ring leader" is a Cleric living in a gated compound in Pennsylvania. Obviously it is merely a coincidence that the ring leaders always seem to be Clerics and this has nothing to do with their faith. Nice going by the Turks, putting down the coup and working towards restoring order. They are a NATO member and one of our staunchest allies in the region. They have split loyalties and this Coup was all about religion. The Army wanted secular rule and teh Govt are being influenced by anti Kurd politics. Never trust a Turk. Assad, like his Father and Brother before him, is a monster. The USA tends to back nations who either are our allies for advance our interests. Which is why we have backed some unsavory dictators in the past over there. The Arab spring along with our war on terror has brought about significant changes over there. Though not the kind we hoped for. While I may share your feelings about Radical Islam. Secularism is on the way out in that part of the world just as sure as it's making foot holds in Europe. Replacing in many cases Christianity. Turkey had a run at it and now they are turning back to Islam. The question remains will secularism be able to survive anywhere?
