'Customers told police that the man had come into the restaurant, armed with an AK-47, and robbed numerous people as well as the business.

One customer, who was legally carrying a concealed handgun, followed the robber into the parking lot because he was afraid for the safety of his wife, who was on her way to the Waffle House.

The customer called out to the robber, who turned and pointed the rifle at him, police said. The customer then shot the robber several times.

The robbery suspect was taken to a hospital, where he is on life support.'

America needs a lot more good news stories like this to keep their legally held weapons, let's hope they're more well publicised in the future.

I read about loads of these incidents. They are never publicised in mainstream media, much like incidents of cops shooting white folk.   On the face of it the chap saw a threat to the public and dea

I don't think it's devils advocate time, it in America where attitudes are different from being armed to being supported in general by society if you challenge a criminal. Everything he did is lawfu

Not saying I fault the guy but he followed an armed man into a parking lot with the intention of shooting him. The excuse about his wife is piss or he wouldn`t have called out to the robber.

Vigilante. Not the type that should own a gun for self defence.

On the face of it the chap saw a threat to the public and dealt with it like a true citizen. That is entirely the point in an armed populace! It happens quite regularly and I totally support it.

He's right sort of person to be armed. He took on somebody with an assault rifle and came out on top.

You can't carry out a robbery with an automatic assault rifle and whine when you get sorted out.

What happened if his wife got shot by the scum, I bet the husband would regret it for the rest of his life. He didn't shoot until the AK47 was pointed at him. There is no law against challenging an armed criminal and defending yourself appropriately when in danger, it is a basic human right recognised in the western world.

Although I agree people should have the right to defend themselves and there property .but nobody seems to be picking up on the point that this robber had a Ak-47 i presume legally held? And for me this is the problem with American gun law .I can't see any justification for high powered automatic weapons especially if any numpty can get there hands on them ...keep it real.

Why did he challenge him ? What was the purpose off that ?

He could have left him with his cheap tat swag and let the cops deal with him.

Devils advocate time.

I guessing he challenged him to make sure he was legally covered when he then shot him.

I don't think it's devils advocate time, it in America where attitudes are different from being armed to being supported in general by society if you challenge a criminal.

Everything he did is lawful :

1st he was lawfully armed

2nd he was entitled to challenge somebody who committed a crime.

3rd he defended himself with a legally held firearm when an automatic assault rifle was pointed at him by a criminal. I'm sure he was in fear of his life when he took the lawful and morally correct action.

He didn't have to challenge the criminal just like the criminal didn't have to be armed with an AK47 but both of them did what they did and the law abiding citizen thankfully came out on top.

I take it you know what devils advocate means , so I`ll skip that bit.

He placed himself in harms way for no reason at all. He risked leaving his wife a widow so he could have a go at shooting a man with a machine gun. What part of that is clever or wise ?

The second ammendment wasn't written to protect a citizens right to defend themselves or hunt, it was written to protect against tyranny. Also in all probability the weapon wasn't automatic.
