I'd Like A Second Rifle

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm a newbie. So hello to all :bye:

I moved into a house about a year ago that has a pretty large garden.

Well we get a few visitors rabbits a plenty, squirrels by the lorry load and loads of bird variety. We even get ducks jsut sat in garden.

When you first see them you think ah that's lovely rabbits roaming loose in my garden. Squirrels in the trees.

All a great settings and pretty cool to see in your own garden until you see the destruction that they can bring.

The squirrels bury acorn in autumn and dig up the garden in the spring looking for them. Utter devastation at times.

Rabbits eat plants, garden, lawn and poo everywhere.

The ducks are just fine and dandy.

It was driving me nuts.

I decided I need to do something about it - so I bought a rabbit trap and was going to catch them and relocate them.

Well that didn't work!!

Everybody said get an air rifle to deal with them. I thought not sure I can shoot a fluffy bunny.

I thought about it and went to my local RFD and asked for advice. Said I had a big garden a need something to deal with the rabbits.

I was very open to suggestions and I said I'll pay for the right choice.

Well he sold me a springer for £150 including scope. I said you sure I should get a PCP? He said no you'll be fine with that. Will drop a rabbit from 30 yards.

Well I didn't get on with it. Although it reminded me fondly of rifle shooting with a break barrel in my younger days.

It had no accuracy or real power.

So I did a bit more research and went to another RFD wanting a PCP.

I had three in mind BSA R10, Air Arms S510 and the Weihrauch HW100.

I wanted full length and .22

I listening intently to the knowledge the guy had and was happy to take his advice.

The HW100 felt awesome and I neither came out with a .22 or a full length.

I came out with a carbine .177 with a sporter stock.Oh and a decent Nikko scope.

Oh my word I love it. It's like a machine, accurate, reliable and it just feels amazing.

I'm now almost addicted to it and my pest control.

I have come back to rifle shooting in a big way and I love it.

Right sorry to blab on - on to the reason for my post!

I'd like to buy a second rifle (or third if you count the springer)

I would just like a different option and probably different calibre.

I first thought why do people have more than one rifle!! As lots of you seem to have multiple.

I want to join in.

So the question is given I have an HW100 .177

I would really like a BSA R10se in .22 super carbine. It feels great to the shoulder. I know there have been issues with some of them.

Magazine isn't the best. It looks lovely too.

The other option could be another HW100 in a .22

What do you guys think?? Or are there other options.

Thanks for reading my long post :-)

Thanks in advance

Tony

THE HW100 WILL DO EVERY THING YOU ASK OF IT IT CANT BE BETTER,D IN MY OPINION AND MOST OF THE LADS WILL AGREE   IF YOU WANT ANOTHER RIFLE THEN GO FOR A PROPER SPRING RIFLE AND NOT THE ONE THE RFD SO

And bigger wobble when aiming , the bigger magnification exaggerate your wobble which makes it harder to hold the gun on target

By the way welcome to this great forum . Yes i have both and both are spot on . Probably the best PCP made IMO and i have had Two BSA r10's as well , lovely looking gun , good shot count ,and very ac

If you like the HW100 (and many on here do) why not stick to a gun which already ticks the boxes for you, very hard to beat. Do you simply fancy something different.

Phil

So why have you got 2 air rifles?

shot guns?

and even a air rifle for you wife?

come on Phil answer that :whistling: :whistling: :whistling:

:tongue2: :tongue2: :tongue2:
