Corbyn is an old school Marxist. He's nothing new and nor is what he represents. I don't hate him personally but I think the people who think he is the second coming are naive/or so young they think he's new and fresh. The man would tax and spend like there is no tomorrow.....

No party that supports mass unchecked, uncontrolled immigration can claim to be the party of the working man, regardless of all their claims. The people most affected negatively and the biggest lose

Aye most of them absolutely hate the white working class...They were outraged 'their' plebs voted to leave the EU. That's all anyone needs to know about the 'working man's party'. They would love to replace people like us with foreigners.

He's not the second coming and he's not particularly new or fresh, he's been in parliament over 30 years after all  what is new and a breath of fresh air is having an actual principled leftist leading the Labour party offering a real alternative to the Lib/Lab/Con consensus we've been living under since the Blair/Major years and he's offering a real chance to reform and democratise the internal party structures and return it to it's founding principles, that's what's got so many people engaged and supporting him and why the establishment on both sides fecking hate him.

Yep the people who hate Corbyn and what he stands for were pissed off at "their plebs" voting Leave and have been whining about a second referendum, Corbyn on the other hand called for the immediate implementation of Article 50 the morning the referendum result...

This thread is interesting on many levels, it is quite an eye opener really how a highly charged emotive subject can actually be explored without people loosing the plot and respect given to both sides of the discussion. Questions asked and real answers given, long may it continue.

Been a real breath of fresh air on here hasn't it pal, folk with seriously differing views and ideas having a civil adult discussion

He's the only mainstream party leader who's come out against austerity, the only one advocating a national investment bank, the only one talking about strengthening worker's rights and actually challenging the neoliberal consensus, when was the last time we had a real leftist leading the Labour party, someone who didn't just agree with Tory policy and the neoliberal narrative put forward by all the major parties? Someone who puts principles before pandering for votes. That's why he's a breath of fresh air in British politics ;)

I'm old enough to have been kicked out of the party during the Militant purges, I remember the so called leftist leaders of the 80s who were the start of the downfall of the party very well indeed, Corbyn is different to them all both in policy and character.

I have read this whole thread over the last few days and it is a good insight into current politics in UK. Your knowledge of him is only bettered by your endorsement of him, 28 page endorsement!!! He does seem very decent and honest as far as politicians go, yet you say you would rather someone else to lead the party in future, who would that be and why?

Just simply because he'll be in his 70s by the next election, I'd like to see a younger more energetic leader take over from him once the job of reforming the internal structures of the party has been carried out. Richard Burgon and Clive Lewis are both strong contenders for the position in a few years, IMO.

I have also said I would have rather seen McDonnell elected leader but that's more of a personal preference, McDonnell has a bit more fire in his belly which appeals to me.

Thanks for the reply, just curiously do any of them look favorably on hunting? While corbyn seems 'decent' enough I do find it a little strange to see a 28 page endorsement for a politician who has, and is (correct me if I am wrong) an avid supporter of the hunting ban. At the end of the day this is a hunting website. Atb.

Corbyn and McDonnell both voted for the ban, Burgon and Lewis weren't in parliament when the ban came in and I haven't seen them mention hunting in any interviews, probably safe to say they aren't pro hunting though.

It's just something I've come to accept I'm going to disagree with the vast majority of the left on and it's not a big enough issue for me to make me vote for a party that I disagree with on everything else.

Sadly it looks like the ban is probably here to stay for a while yet no matter who's in power anyway, even UKIP wouldn't repeal it on a national level but would leave it up to individual counties to decide if they wanted hunting to go on in their area or not.
