Rake aboot 4,936
Ltd company working abroad is fine. But how much time do you spend at home ? none. Fair enough you don`t pay tax and keep all yer money, but the time away is dire, and some things are more important than money. 3 and 3 is seven months of the year away from home and paying 40% tax for the privilege, no thanks. And as for North sea guys not knowing how easy they have it, thats bullshit sorry. Going back to Nuclear power. Shift job, working less days per year than offshore and my own bed every night.

Once again I'm not trying to sound like a prick but 3n 3 is half the year off there are not many jobs like that There were lads a few months ago protesting outside bristows with banners saying . 3and 3 is slavery ....how many slaves got half the year off and 100k a year ...fukin bellends And how many lads do a full 12 hour shift apart from drilling and well services ....you will be lucky to get 2 hours out of some of the fat lazy c**ts ....lads in the North Sea are spoilt and need to man the fuk up 1 hour away from the beach ,room to yourself ,wifi through ou the rig, good food and their moaning about 3 n3 and being stuck 3 hours in scatsta with fog .....try traveling 4 days to the middle of the jungle in the highlands of Papua New Guinea being escorting by armed guards everywhere you go working 36 hour shifts away from home for 6-8 weeks .you will never hear me complain as sometimes I can go and sit in a 5 star hotel up to my tits in hookers and whisky so you have to take the rough with the smooth ...it just makes you appreciate your home life all the more and make the best of it you can

I've worked in the industry over 20 years and have been on probably % of the platforms in the nort sea ,jack ups ,semis Working my up to Coiled Tubing superintendent and well services supervisor so don't say that the North Sea tigers have it hard not until you've worked all over the world and seen how the other half lives You tell me what's hard about the North Sea

Rake aboot 4,936
Mik, no offence mate, but working as a ltd company abroad, spending yer spare time inside an asian hooker isn`t a normal life. Plenty are happy just to send their wife a fat bank balance to pay for the Merc while she boffs her PT and they spend thier onshore time in Bangkok Most want to spend time with their family. 3 and 3 equates to working 12hr shifts 3.5 days a week with no holidays, the difference being you can`t go home at night and are stuck on a shithole with no working wifi cause it costs too much. TV has been cut as well as the oil company need the money. Food budget has just been cut again and they sacked the nightshift stewards and the housemouse, so don`t expect to get stuff fixed or washed in a hurry. Jail would be more comfy. Its ok saying folk are soft etc etc (sounds like management) but people have lives and buggering off to make big cash and forgoing a homelife is less popular these days. MIK 4,763
I've not been ltd company since 2007 And there are very very few lads that actually work 12 hours in the North Sea I was in the North Sea in the early nineties when there was no internet you got 1 phone call a day and you had to pay for phone cards . There are not many shitholes in the North Sea ....honestly mate there is no comparison to some of the toilets in the world I have worked you lads really have it easy I know because I've worked in the North Sea There's you moaning about not getting your laundry done .....I've just spent 6 months doing a 35 on 10 off on a fukin shitehole of a jack up ...no TVs no wifi, 4 man rooms ,no warm showers sometimes I would get 4 hours sleep in 48 hours you soon learn to sleep standing up ,the rig came down with the lurgy we were up ft in the air in the snubbing basket with 3600psi well head pressure bellow us shitting and spewing in buckets just to get the job done ...north sea offshore tigers wouldn't do that ....the last time I was in the North Sea there was a big stramash cause the fukin ice cream machine was broken . the last time I was in the North Sea the heliport was like being at a JLS concert the lad next to me getting his bag search had fake tan and hair straighteners .... Like I say there are not many jobs that you get half the year off and when your at home your time is your own and its up to you quality you make that time . No one can tell me the North Sea is hard it's a doddle
