PeskyWabbits 464
I am thinking of joining the dark side. Trying to justify it really. I am really happy with my Pro Sport and my Hw35. But sometimes you need to reload quickly for that second rabbit, or another rat, or etc And we have loads of advice for buying 'my first air rifle' which for cost and convenience is always a springer but not a first PCP So can someone clarify the air bottle situation. The ebay ones say just tested and the date is 2 years away. And are all whips the same, with just the adapter for the air rifle cylinder being different. Quote Link to post

Five years on a surface only. The fittings are Din or A clamp. A Din valve would be the normal for a surface only bottle. Most hoses are 1/8 bsp thread size although you can get them in 1/4 bsp. And with this being the airgun hunting write up section I will move this!! Quote Link to post

Pros and cons of owning a pcp pros, lighter in some cases most are deadly accurate not all have long barrels there are carbine ones to shot count is good on some you can fit pods to them which makes for better accuracy laying prone or if you need to just put it down you have all ways got that second shot but there are single shot ones to yes you have to fill them with air bottles are best to use and yes some are heavy but if you fit then in the car so they dont roll around there ok unless you have a perm that is lifting with vermin then your not going to use all the shot count up any way when out in the field you can get different size whips as moxy has say,d but you can get different length whips to i have a long whip fitted to mine so i dont have to lift the bottle out of the 4x4 when i need to refill . most are deadly silent with the silencer fitted but sound like a shot gun when not most are fitted with a air gauge so you no how much air is in the cylinder a blind man could use one there that good cons no good for range shooting as you will use your air up quick no good for a day on the crows in a rookery as you will be running back to the car to fill her up (spinger is better for this ) yes you need to service them but you need to service a springer every now and again but if you look after her she will look after you yes some shops will not service some of them and it can be expensive at times (very if you own a daystate) but there are lads out there that can do this for you all you have to do is ask cant think of any more but the pros out number the cons i would not be with out one or a springer as different rifles have different uses atvbmac  1 Quote Link to post

PeskyWabbits 464
Earlier this year I was looking at the night vision add ons. It just doesn't seem feasible to add one to a springer. Whereas it is straight forward on a PCP. I would be tempted on a Yukon Photon but again, are these compatible with springers - do they have recoil sensitive components. So again, a PCP has the versatility in this department. Thanks for the replies. Even the rude ones Quote Link to post
