.22 hornet factory ammo is quite dear,and there is really only one that packs a punch the Hornady 35 grain vmax, the rest is rather pedestrian, to say the least, re-loading a hornet is cheap as chips, I used to do mine for around 20p a bang.

Yeah that probably about right, its around the same cost to reload as buying factory HMR rounds. The only difference being that it's infinitely more capable due to the extra energy

I'm liking the capability. It's justifying the cost. I don't mind paying toward the cost of my sport but there has to be a limit. It looks like i'll be looking a bit more seriously at the Hornet.

Can someone give a rough cost of the reloading hardware? Never done it but I know there has to be a press, dies, crimper, measurer etc.

I also know that some cartridge components can be posted and some can't. Is there a website or some vids that'll stop me quizzing you guys?

I can buy .17 hornet rounds for £16.95 for 25, however reloading for it is on a par with .22 hornet.

 

The factory .17 hornet rounds are very good aswell. I had my barrel shortened to 20.5" and the factory stuff still does 3,600fps in it, home loads a bit more.
