rippem 455
Just curious to know how big are your sets? I've noticed a lot of folks have big pats and look to be crossed with staffy..they almost look like a small pit not a pat..in the states they couldn't get in the ground over here. So I was just wondering how big the sets are for the size of some of your dogs..just curious..thanks.. Quote Link to post

pablo esc 1,598
The be different size holes and that rippem, old setts quite wide some of them, dog can struggle in places too, where the tight, wouldn't be to much trouble, was years ago when had bigger dog even though it was about fourteen half inch chest but too strong, bully type dog, but good nose on it. rippem 455
Thanks for the reply. It's nice to know how the hunting grounds are in other country's. Over here if there to big to span then there no good for ground work. There only good above for stuff like raccoon.thanks Quote Link to post
pablo esc 1,598
Yes, would struggle to span that dog and was too big alot of the time, compared to other dogs around which were a big smaller and we're not bully type Quote Link to post
Cargol 302
From the pictures iv seen of the stuff in the states they look massive. I thought most of the stuff in the states was the booth stuff. Massive bully looking things. Quote Link to post

rippem 455
There are a lot that are big but there crosses and there to big to go to ground and the one that do the crosses don't hunt they just sell them. The ones that really like to hunt need a Spannable dog or there not doing ground work or real barn work..raccoons pancake out so there sets are small and ground hogs sets are small also. The raccoon when winter comes and they bed down in the hay and straw they squeeze through the cracks and go down into the pile. So even in the barns you need a Spannable dog. And the fox over here there chest are not wide there spannable also so there sets are pretty small for the most part..we have badger but I haven't Ben lucky enough to locate one so I couldn't say what there sets would look like. But I would awesome small and shaped like a catfish mouth.. 3 Quote Link to post

rippem 455
I'm from Illinois also..so you know what I mean by they need to be spannable.I'm up towards the Wisconsin Illinois boarder. About 20 min south of Lake Geneva wis.. Quote Link to post
go2ground 152
Yep, all mine are spanable. The big guy is barely (18-20 lbs) and won't fit in most groundhog sets.....I'm central, 30 min. north of Springfield on I-55. 1 Quote Link to post
