Cheap Is Not Always Rubbish!

Recommended Posts

I had a smk xs78 a few months ago and after some work it was very capable.

A work colleague needed a gun for his micro farm so sold it him for what it owed me.

I always after that one fancied a QB 78delux. So while shopping with the family in Ayr I snook off to the gun shop and in the window was one!

Deal was done and stuffed in the car boot until the end of the holiday away.

I soon got it stripped and tuned, trigger sears polished and adjusted and zeroed. So today I took it pigeon decoying in barley.

I set a few deeks in the barley under some dead cherry in a scrubby hedge.

After a slow start birds started to visit and sit in the cherries.

My blind was 20yds down the hedge and when a bird landed in I would slowly stalk for a shot.

Four hours later and six to hand. Seven in the barley lost. Several missed and a few clipped twigs.

It made a great change to be quiet.

Not bad for just over £100, some pellets and some co2!

By the way the thing shoots pretty much any pellet I have. Expensive and cheapies!

These pigeon were taken with cheap Anglo arms things!.

What more could you want? And for less than some pay for a scope, which you don't even use! Some good eating there after a good days shooting, becoming a standard for you this is...

Not cheap for the pigeons, as they will not be going cheep any more. Cheap or expensive should be irrelevant, if it is capable of hitting the target within the killing zone with sufficient force then it is capable of doing the job. Well done, and yes food for the table or your dog?

All the best

Out of interest udog, whats the report like without anything on the end and do you intend to moderate it,also which calibre is it in?

It just sounds like an airgun mate.

They don't make that much noise in the first place airguns really.

Never understood the need for fancy silencers, airguns work at close range and a good solid hit makes a lot of noise anyway.

It's 22 mate.

Nice going u :)

Too true, I've got a 50quid hawke scope that's ace, way better than ones I paid a bloody fortune for!!

Your dog just makes me want to get another one!!

I was building up a stock pile of pigeons for your ml recipe but my next door neighbors dad was found this week and he loves rabbit and pigeons so I donated the content of my freezer to him!!

I'm paying the price for last night at the mo but as soon as this headache goes I'm off out on pigeon patrol :)

Nice Wright up u
