tb25 4,627
The antis can think what they like...there's a big difference between the two.

Ross M 149
It's a mixed thing for me, but I never judge something I don't understand or been apart of. It's in a country that's soaked in tradition/history/culture of that sport, each to there own can only think on things like this with our own bans in place and once our sport was once tradition/history/culture... Keep on keeping on!
gnasher16 30,146
And tonights homework is......" sobriquet " and " demarcation "......keep them coming Mackem its always good to sling a long word in now and again it keeps the ol woman on her toes For what its worth i think Gaz has got it just about bang on i think when you hunt/fish/compete with animals you cant have a foot on each side of the fence in terms of whats acceptable and whats not.
gnasher16 30,146
So Bryan......if these bulls are purpose bred for their own specific qualities it would suggest there is value in them....is there ?.....and if so who breeds/sells them and who buys them.......is the income generated purely by spectators ? It must be hard for a breeder who has put effort into producing a certain quality of animal see it intentionally put to its death like that.....are there certain breeders whos stock is used within certain areas or would a prized bull travel the country type of thing ?

Sobriquet???? what in the hell is...... google?....................right Tourniquet? That'd be used a lot. Here's Luis David Adame, he's a 17 year old apprentice and had his chance to make an impression in the main Spanish ring in Madrid last month. But on his first of 2 bulls of the afternoon he took too many risks trying to impress and make a name for himself and gets lifted by a leg.
Bryan 1,362
Now they'll reach for a tourniquet if they can and tie off the bleeding and if they can stand at all they'll go back in because every appearance in Madrid will make or break a career. He goes back in and must finish what he's started.

So there's about 28 registered bloodlines, each with specific physical traits and "comportment" they call it, how the tend to behave in the ring. An average bull is about €15,000 which in a few weeks will be £15,000 But the good bull breeds will sell out stadiums the same as the best matadors. Supply and demand people will pay top dollar for the best performing bulls. But the value of a bull is from how it's herd is doing, which is based on how they preformed the season before or earlier the same season. The last few years the very best bull bloodlines have been Ymbro, Yeltes, Victorinos. Bull fans will pay big money to see those days. Then there's the star men El Juli, Padilla, Mora etc. etc. Last week in Alicante tickets for Jose Tomas were selling for €1,500 Pamploma is coming up. That's 10 days and you can get tickets for the 10 days or single days. If you look at the Pamploma card people would follow various matadors but also various bloodlines of bulls. Of those 10 days your matching bulls to men. Escribano that got gored at the wekend was meant to be meeting the Miura bulls that have killed most people on the last day of Pamploma. People will be very interested to see anyone face those bulls. I've read the Jandilla Bulls on July 11th this year are popular with the runners because they've recently gored the most, the last person killed on the bull run was killed by one. For the breeder his bloodline is valued on gameness, drive, speed and stamina. His biggest worry is that his bloodline doesn't perform or his breeding stops producing the goods. If it does he's in trouble and the value of his herd drops very quickly. http://feriadeltoro.com/la-feria/feria-del-toro-2016-2/carteles-la-feria-del-toro-2016/
Bryan 1,362
Looking at the card above Gnasher I'd only be interested in going on the 7th, 10th,11th,12th and 14th. They're the bulls and men I'd like to see. If I was running I'd be looking for the fattest lamest lines of bulls out there. But Pamplona has sold out since Hemmingway wrote, The Sun also Rises. There's something about death and sex and sun and food and drink that's seems to be popular down through the ages.
