Tiercel 6,986
I made a post on here, a while ago stating that we would not leave the EU as the 'powers that be' had too much to lose. I honestly thought we would lose the vote by the narrowest of margins, the elation I felt this morning when I seen the result was truly euphoric. However, that was short lived when I read that unless one side actually won by gaining 60% of the vote the losing side can call for the result to be null and void and another vote to be taken. Whether this option will be invoked remains to be seen, but there is an on line petition gaining momentum at the moment where the remain camp want to invoke the clause. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/brexit-petition-for-second-eu-referendum-so-popular-the-government-sites-crashing-a7099996.html TC
Brewman 1,192
I can't see the remain camp winning with that percentage so in theory each side could keep invoking that clause and if it was feasible I don't think Scameron would have announced his resignation so soon. He would have hedged his bets and used the support letter to back himself up which was signed by MPs from both camps. It would be an affront to democracy if they had another one and Europe would laugh at us which would be most annoying considering this result has brought us some new found respect for having a set if balls. Even that twat corbyn ha said that the vote should be respected. If it was the case all the europhiles and presenters would have brought it up last night. TC I think you can sleep soundly tonight.
sussex 5,777
Typical , my interpretation was its first past the post ...now it's first by the post but it's got to be by ten lengths .i suppose it's a case of keep voting till we get the result they want ...obviously if the remain camp had won they wouldn't have excepted the result unless it had been a landslide ...yea my arse ! kanny 20,611
I wouldent worry it ain't going to happen imo these petitions always do the rounds after any big vote .there's always a loosing side that's democracy .it just takes a little longer for the loosing side to accept it. kanny 20,611
Just to add ...do you really think there going to put the country through all this shite again. ..not a chance it would tear us apart.
walshie 2,804
Cameron himself said this was to be a referendum, not a neverendum, so bollocks to the bad losers.
KES2 171
I can just see the Scottish First Minister (fish face) accepting that principle on a referendum for Scottish Independence - although she has almost done the same, calling for another one at this time. She is not a friend of the UK - does she have any friends - clearly not her cowed husband at the interview this morning.
Brewman 1,192
There is even petition to get Sadi kahn to call a referendum to make London a seperate state. Just arseholes doing stuff out of stupidity and boredom.
walshie 2,804
What good would a second referendum do anyway? No-one's going to vote any differently. I don't think they could take the chance of it being an even bigger majority next time.
kanny 20,611
Another point that I read yesterday is a referendum isn't actually legally binding and parliament can choose to ignore the results and put it to the mps to vote instead but they haven't done that have they? Why? Because half the country would be rioting and it would tear our social fabric to tatters http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/23/eu-referendum-legally-binding-brexit-lisbon-cameron-sovereign-parliament
Moorside 642
The scots should be given another referendum the day after we officially leave the E.U.......then they can enjoy the cup of cold sick that is the Euro.

downsview 448
This was a peaceful revolution jmo first time we've gone against Europe without our cities being flattened and our service men and womens graves going unattended in some foreign corner, the EU wants us gone no second chances they couldn't care less about petitions or even another referendum the more we are around more eu scepticism is encouraged in other member states we are leaving get used to it that includes Scotland.
