mackem 26,264
Blair was interviewed on BBC early, expounding his views on the out vote,he said the british people didnt differentiate between migration outside the EU and that from within,he didnt seem to understand that freedom of movement for 508 million EU citizens is what sounded the death knell and brought concerned folks out to vote. There was a couple of the political elite yesterday showing voting graphs and charts, they had worked out that poorly educated low paid older folk were the demographic that swung it for Brexit, and that those with degrees earning over 35k a year were more predisposed to vote remain, they dont seem to understand that an open flow of immigrants will drive wages down and keep them down disgruntling the electorate who in turn will vote exit, its just yada....yada....yada,action speaks louder than words at the end of the day,and we now have action with OUT.

I watched that also he also said that the eastern Europeans were great for this country and in the right manageable numbers I agree however he failed to note the possibility of millions of Syrians and other non eu nationals who will soon be holding eu passports and heading this way thanks to Merkel momentous fek up!

I live in the east midlands mate I've seen my local towns traditional bread and butter factories move to 80/90% eastern European work force and walking through the town its unrecognizable to what it used to be your lucky to hear a English voice. The speed of the transformation was almost overnight so i couldent agree more but hopefully now with brexit we can have managble numbers. i would also like to see the end of zero hour contracts that discriminate against the native workforce and hold wages down and i think we should set a percentage of numbers of immigrants firms are able to employ....edit just to add I haven't even started on the huge strain its all put on local services. Mustelid 143
Is it conceivable that 'Brexit' won't happen? Merkel has just asked MP's to consider their options carefully and a referendum isn't legally binding. With a new Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition things could change. Apologies if this has been covered earlier in the thread.
VOON 1,317
And the meddling busy bodies won't be forcing us all to have an EU number plate on every car either....that will be the last of their worries now I should think...... The problem with the EU is that the wealthier countries are subsidising the poorer countries and that's why it isn't fair. Other countries in the EU will start waking up and smelling the coffee .....and they too will have referendums. Whether they win or not is impossible to say, BUT the very fact that they will have referendums means that the thoughts of the sheeple are changing. The top three things in the UK that need addressing, IMO, are: #1 The Immigration.....we are becoming a dumping ground for much of the shite from the rest of the world. #2 The NHS: this needs a big over-haul, and more doctors and nurses. More hospitals too if needs be. never mind closing the hospitals, we need to build more. #3 The benefits system is bleeding this country dry. Disability is being used as an excuse not to work. In MANY cases this is faked. If you say you're an alcoholic you get an allownace, if you say you piss your bed you get extra. You go to the docs and say you can't maintain an erection, so you get viagra prescribed for free, which can be sold in the pub for a few quid. All this and much more is happening and draining the lump of money we pay in tax. We currently REWARD people for having as many kids as possible, more kids more money. WTF is that all about? Things need to change..... We seem to have lost alot of common sense.... As an outsider looking in, these will be the piorities for the leaders in the UK 1. The state of the Union. Scottish issue NI issue Gibraltar issue 2. Article 50 It will be interesting to see the reaction of the FTSE to the instability over the weekend. Tory party divided, Corbyn facing a no confidence motion. How will Sterling fare this week? The EU will want Britian gone asap, so instability doesn't spread to other markets, and will not be in a mood to grant concessions, as it will feed Eurospeptic's. 3. Trade agreements All these will have negotiated now. Have Ye got the civil servants and experts in place. 4. Legal System Will European laws be replaced by British law? And where there is no applicable British Law, when can new laws be enacted and passed through Parliament? All ahead of Ye.

I don't think its impossible but highly unlikely imo the only thing that could swing it is if the EU come to the table with a new deal but I don't see how they can its against there whole ethos to give different member's different deals but ironically being more flexible is the only thing that will allow the EU survive imo

Things need to change..... We seem to have lost alot of common sense.... Good points. It is only by being outside the EU can the benefits and health systems hope to survive. At the moment EU regulations mean that anybody with a EU citizenship is entitled to the same benefits and health cover as the UK population. Same in France and the rest of the EU. The big difference is that the rest of the EU doesn't have anything like the same benefits and health systems that the UK have. So any immigrants are better off in the UK whether they intend to work or not. Someone from the Middle East can swim ashore in Greece or Italy, register as a refugees, get EU papers and be on the next plane to Heathrow where they will get better benefits and health care. It is only be coming out of the EU can the UK dictate who is entitled to receive these benefits. And, as you say; those who won't work will either have to change their minds or have their benefits cut considerably. There is no incentive to work.
