BGD 6,436
The Irish lads in France are just ecstatic to be there, any win is just a nice little bonus. I don't think it's really celebrating losses it's just not letting them dampen their spirits.
boyo 1,398
Gnasher. Ps bud I do get what your saying about "winning" in sport otherwise Leagues charts etc have no purpose & how can you have pride in a team without Drive & a competative spirit. Atb
johnny boy68 11,726
I'd imagine there's lots of English having the craic out there, same as many nations are. You only have to look on social media to see the fans having a great time. The mainstream media only like to portray English fans in a negative way at times. PS England been to a few more of these tournaments, they just know there's probably a penalty shootout round the corner. How many years of hurt is it now LOL. Been a great tournament for the home nations so far, 3 through to knockout stages, bit of banter and bragging rights......cracking stuff. Cmon Wales.
gnasher16 30,121
Yep i get what you chaps are saying about just grateful at being there and anything else is a bonus......but surely once your there you want to represent yourself as sportsmen not good time guys who like a beer i think thats what Roy Keane was on about......i just wanted to know how he is viewed by the Irish as i find him an interesting character with an outlook on competition much like my own thats all. AKA-BRINDLE 879
Hope Hoolahan does the business for you lads to night...he the longest serving member of the current Norwich squad...proper nice lad always gives it 100%
jigsaw 11,865
have a look at the crowd during the matches, they are there in the hope the team will pull off a miracle, willing on their team and singing to let the team know they are behind them 100%...if it doesnt go the way the fans would like, they have 3(oops) choices, they either 1....leave the ground sulking, and refuse to talk to anyone 2.....attack or wreck the gaff 3...sing yer bollix off and have a drink to help drown yer sorrows, which one seems like more fun? Roy is from a neighbouring parish,he doesnt mince his words,he doesnt have great tolerance for mediocre efforts BUT MOST OF ALL HE DOESNT HAVE MUCH OF A SENSE OF HUMOUR EITHER Edited June 22, 2016 by jigsaw

gnasher16 30,121
No malice here gnash, but can you just accept the irish are happy good people, who get on with everybody, when you said its wearing thin, I get a whiff of jealously lol Accept it were loved round the world " Jealous ".......jealous of what ?......if yous go on to reach the final too right i,ll be jealous......not all sports fans see sport as a popularity contest mate Roy Keane has a winning mentality which i like, admire and understand.......i dont like admire or understand this smiley drunken Irishman mentality at all but its certainly nothing to do with jealousy......i,ll have a laugh and a giggle with anyone but i take sport seriously and would see absolutely no glory in being a loser but " loved around the world ". Jigsaw has just said Roy Keane doesnt have a sense of humour because he hates losing and doesnt have fun when he loses.......which about sums it up i guess.......if im going out on the lash give me your drunken Irishmen......if im going out to win at sport give me your Roy Keane types all day long. Francie 6,368
Tongue in cheek gnash lol I know what your saying about winning, but us irish know theres more to life than football, were not going to throw are toys out of the pram cause we lost, were not sore losers mate. There enjoying themselves win lose or draw, that doesnt mean were not passionate, were mens men, we just take our oil an move on to the next,
jiggy 3,209
Roy was the drunken go on the lash type most of his career. He gave up drinking late in his career because it got him in too much trouble in bars because of his temper.

fat man 4,741
Not big into soccer but whem ,Mick McCarty was Irish manager and i think it was the world cup and dont ask me where it was as i dont know or give a shit but didnt Roy Keane pull a stropy and leave the tournement just because things were not quite the way he wanted them leting down his country, his team mates and most of all the fans that had travelled and spent there hard earned cash to be there.Roy was a good player who gave his all for both club and country but on that particular occasion i thing he was very un professional, the rest of the squad had to put up with the same conditions, what made him any different, and even though they did do well in that tournement they could have done better if he had not sulked and walked away.
