Hare coursing is banned ,why should coursers regulate themselves to winter running only,...............do bank robbers only go robbing in the winter,?

I know hares bellied up and unsporting and winter hares are the best,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but illegal in winter is illegal in summer.

On saying that its October to Febuary for me if i went for a run.

I fully agree with you,,to real coursers yes it is a crime to run hares in the summer months ,these guys arent bothered about immorality (unfortunately)a run is a run,,,,but illegal is illegal winter or summer it makes no difference to the judge.

Runem can't you get the jist that your just decimating ( killing ) the breeding stock.

Thus every year there will be less and less hares till there are non there to run

Coupled with that the hard ground that's going to injure your dog.

The whole ethos of coursing has gone to pot. Now to most its making a name for yourself or your dog in the shortest time possible most times without putting in the effort, and always looking fo an edge. Fair law seems to be a thing of the past, the course of three four /five minutes has been replaced by the scores on the doors not only in matches but in day walking in general .Coursing stock has gradually been replaced by the whizz bangers to satisfy the need for the kill in the shortest time possible, eliminating most of the skills in coursing. Maybe its a sign of the times illegality lack of permissions, but driving the land wrecking fences, crop cover etc doesnt encourage many land owners to give lads a chance. The smart dress code has gone the same way as courtesy and country codes, the windsor check shirt, the tie , the bushing jacket the cavalary twill or mole skins have now been replaced by trackies, sawn of cargo pants, and shorts and tee shirts for the "summer coursers. Create the right impression and it goes a long way in enhancing what little credibility the hunting/coursing game has left. What ever lads choose to do is ultimately up to them, but a little for thought and respect doesnt cost a lot..

Agree with what you say here db, but all that's been pretty quickly eroded now. Respect for almost anything has been replaced with ego, disrespect, aggression, rudeness and downright beligerence in general.

People getting into hunting in the last 10 years especially, will have no such respect, knowledge etc, and like you say, care only about numbers, results etc. The hunting world is definitely a far far sadder place than it was a generation ago

If you hunt hares in the summer you have no respect for your quarry

 

 

Worse still you have no respect for your dog

 

 

One thing with proper hare coursers I that they respect thier dogs

 

 

And they also respect their quarry as well

 

There are other people that course hares, some pot hunt them for food, I've no problem with that, then there's an element whom are in it 'cos me mates are' hunt all year 'cos it's not legal' this time of year they are usually just 'testing' pups ???? these types dogs never last too much hard ground imho concrete kennel run all winter after running had ground all summer,early too start early too bed ?
