lifelong cumbrian 1,826
I like to fish mepp upstream, fish toby up snd across, rap across and round, also float rap down stream under bushes etc. Metal devon upsteam. People have there own ideas, best is what you have success and confidence in. I like to fish baits with braid and a couple of foot of mono, i fish as light as possible for the species targeted and conditions as it presents the bait better. Last season i was fishing with a 5'6" greys ultralite with 4lb braid. I was using a 30mm rap fishing for trout, i hooked a good salmon well into the teens, fresh fish, i could not do much with it, kept working into me then it would be off again back to its lie. It took off last time and rolled on the top and threw the bait, it must have worked the hook hold bigger with having it on so long. From when i hooked it till it come off was 1 1/2 hours. Not something i want to repeat but it just shows you can work a big fish with light gear. 3 Quote Link to post
