I go twice weekly to watch the little Whippets running throughout the spring/summer months just keeping them fit & keeping them from getting bored,many of these work as i know their owners,keen as mustard they are,real little whizz bangers ...

The early Whippet meets i attended it was all coloured ribbons and no muzzles,the audience relished the many un-finished races because of the scraps betwixt the racers,happy days and heartier Whippets perhaps.

I love whippets too, as I'm sure many on here do. And I know they can do most of the work that people want a running dog for. Though I will say that I do think that on certain ground, a taller dog than most whippets is of more use.

I personally think the main reason that many don't rate them, especially these last 20ish or so years, is due to the increase in bull x's, and the majority of people that own them. I mean, it's quite difficult to look hard and macho with a 25-30lb whippet on the lead, as opposed to some of these super, smash anything, 'look at the size of his head' -90lb bull x's! Lol.
