Bolted a poxy little runt vixen weighing about 7lb into a 3ft rabbit net, nobody could believe it,that was around 1977 and then we dug to a dead ferret a few years later on the edge of a "dip" to find a small vixen that was up a stop end, mangy little thing again but I reckon we probably pushed that in there as we had been bushing rabbits all the way up to the warren, the terriers were marking it up quite heavy but we just thought it would be another rabbit, strangest place I ever killed one was without the dog whilst running my sons football team,we had played a game one sunday afternoon on a pitch through some woods,on the way back down a hillside full of ferns a fox jumped up in front of me and without thinking I picked up a thick glass lemonade bottle a threw it , I hit it right in the back of the 'noggin" bowling it over into a stream, jumped in putting my foot straight on its head and killed it , it had "tick fever" I reckon, one side of it was covered in ticks with hardly any fur left on, when I looked around the kids and parents were all standing staring looking at me like I was a madman, I explained it was sick and needed killing LOL's, the kids were good as gold in training after that and my Mrs laughed her head off when the kids told her, what we do on a daily basis can be shocking to townies I suppose, the biggest laugh is I could of thrown that bottle a hundred times and probably never hit it, but thrown in anger I hit every time, WM
