johnrussell84 2,832
Honestly mate most will bush. Ul hear jacks, plummers borders will all excel but u also will get bad ones and some blacks can bush every bit as good just like there's no guarantee none off the above won't just pop to ground whilst out. I'd maybe look towards the spaniel xs etc a few boys in the bushing section have bred some real tidy litters that would suit ur needs. If your new to hunting tho I'd strongly advice looking into how bushers operate, what the parents drive etc is like if ur new and take from head strong genes ul be in a spot off trouble if the pup follows the the genes rep. Check the litters in the bushing the guys seem gents don't be afraid to ask them there dogs styles and let them know the terrain u hunt. Atb 4 Quote Link to post
Walker21 4
Yer to be fair the reason I posted on here is cause the lads I got out with on the rare occasion only have patterdales and they seem to think there the only ones for the job and I'm no terrier man so I thankful for the honest reply I'll take on bored what you have sed Quote Link to post
Twm zig 30
Get a spaniel, never understood people usin terriers for bushing when a spaniel is a better dog for the job 2 Quote Link to post
Walker21 4
The only problem I have with spaniels are I often bump into foxes ,which my whippet has taken a natural hatered to so would be better off with a terrier to give a helping hand when ever he grabs one ,I never go out for foxes bacause rabbits are my main game but there everywhere round where I'm from Quote Link to post
BGD 6,436
I'd be looking at one of the specialist bushing crosses. Have a look in the Bushing Dogs section lads breeding and working some useful crosses in there 2 Quote Link to post
Walker21 4
I'll give it a look mate cheers Quote Link to post
Walker21 4
I'm sure there are spaniels that can but surly it would be better to have a dog that's built to tackle foxes over one that's not ,I already have a dog that gets banged up when he gets hold of one don't need another lol 2 Quote Link to post
BGD 6,436
Have you considered a Stafford? Big enough so you won't really have to worry about it dropping to ground but small enough to get in amongst the bushes and it'd definitely be capable of backing up your runner. 3 Quote Link to post

I have a staffy at the moment that was good back in his day but he's pushing 8 now and his joints playing up ,so another staffy might well be on the cards Edited June 18, 2016 by Walker21 Quote Link to post
