shepp 2,285
I do agree it's mostly laziness on the parents part but it is expensive to eat well these days. I don't mean go the supermarket and buy some cheap frozen fruit and veg and some processed meats. I mean to eat a proper healthy balanced diet. Fresh lean meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, brown rice and quinoa, mixed pulses, good sources of fats such as nuts and seeds, olive oil, avocado, oily fish. It's not cheap. The government should discount all nutritious foods and put tax on things like chocolate and biscuits. My daughter gets smoked haddock with root vegetable mash and beetroot at mine twice a week, and she really enjoys it. But it costs about £5. Her cousins get taken McDonalds regularly and their mother feeds 3 of them for little more than a fiver. You can easily make a healthy meal for less than a fiver too. It's just lazy b*****ds that feed there kids shit.
Jonjon79 13,358
Cold McDonald ffs! Kids are little blank canvasses - we can make the best of them if we chose to. Some parents (Not all) are just lazy twats. Healthy packed lunches can be made on a budget......... we manage it. Don't get me started on the kids that don't do homework because the parents are too feckin lazy to help/push them. Edited June 17, 2016 by Jonjon79

Big pizzas for 2 quid in Supermarket. Bags of chicken nuggets for a quid. Big bags of chips and wedgies for a quid. I've just spent £14 on my tea in morrisons, the missus brought a load of frozen shit what will last her a fortnight for the same amount.

Yep eating well is expensive imo but all 3 of mine eat good healthy fresh food , and once a week if they've been good they get to choose a take away which is normally McDonalds or a pizza .. I cant understand why some parents would feed there kids shite everyday..

A bag of oats is a couple of quid and will last weeks, brown rice the same if you buy a decent amount. Get to know your butcher and you'll get decent deals on whatever's going,or if you want to buy more at one time go to costco and freeze some. And veg is generally very cheap too, especially carrots, potatoes etc which also last a bit longer. I could feed my family for cheaper on decent food than frozen meals and definitely cheaper than fast food.

Cost shouldn't come into it when feeding kids, if you can't afford to feed them properly you shouldn't have them. But I do think the government should help out as said above. That comes into it too tho doesn't it pal, having the time to prepare cheap nutritious meals. Much easier to chuck some frozen nuggets and chips in the oven. One of the many problems made worse by the new norm of both parents going out to work.
