Hw 100 Pellet Choice

Recommended Posts

Both of my HW100k are not pellet fussy at all

thats my point the k models seem to shoot straight with most pellets but the standards are more fussy!!

thats how it seems to me, i might be wrong but from what i can gather most of you lads use the k models!

wondering if the rifling is different with the two with being different lengths, this could explain why some of the pellets that you use work well

but i can't get get them to group?!

I went out again last night and took a mate who shoots a very fancy "Wolverine",he was made up getting to shoot plenty of bunnies and I was glad of the company, his rifle was decent enough but after the slightest of knocks it was miles out, although a nice gun its not really a sporting type rifle for me, I was a lot more accurate shooting about 35 bunnies, some out to 50yds or so but still got the odd stray shot, I will finish the other tin of RWS off tonight and then try the bisley mags I found in my cupboard,it will be a trip to valley arms one day this week to buy some AA Diablo field, I am definitely going to give the barrel a really good clean before tonights session, thanks for some very interesting replies it has given me lots to think about, has anyone shot a -20 HW100 and what do you think ??? i was in the running for one but the lad in the shop warned me off, said he had a fussy one and its a limited choice of pellets in.20

so i got a standard 100 177 which loves bis mags

like stealthy says give it a few pull throughs and put some lead through it before you go out!

I went out saturday night and took my mate with his wolverine, I gave the barrel a real good brushing out but can't say I noticed any dirt ,etc, anyway a quick bit of light oil around the mag area as it was very dry then off to pick my mate up,as we arrived I noticed 2 bunnies sat near to where I park at the golf course,as they never moved I thought I'd try the gun out first shot, took that one at about 30yds,half grown and shot right through the eye,I never looked back from there really shooting 48 on my own and my mate shot a good 25, I am not impressed with the Wolverine as there were plenty of occasions where he should of shot more but the low magazine number and not having at least 2 of them, I also had to keep stopping to allow him to reload,in fact on 1 occasion he fired empty on 3 rabbits sat out to 40 yds so I took the 3 of them one after the other whilst he was loading his mag, I love this HW100,no double loading (which he was guilty of) and a certain kill every shot barring conditions of weather, I shot some very long shots again on Saturday all through the head and I felt a little more comfortable with the trajectory etc and the results were there, here's a pic of some of friday nights bag, WM

Si, I used the RWS and I still have a tin left but I will try the bisley mags when the others are used, I look after 6 different golf courses and shooting out the cart gives me the edge and I can get about real quick, back there in the morning 5-30am start, WM

drive-by rabbit blasting

i just tried the mags for a change! more of a punch.

but me and my mate both use rws sf happily out to 60yrd!

you might stop getting the randoms after a bit more lead down

only thing with the mags is they drop off a lot quicker so you've got to learn your ranges/mil dots again

Anyone used H&N Baracuda Hunter pellets in their HW100 KT .177 ? ... if so how did you find them ...

Only tried them in a pellet test at 25mt but they grouped well and thought they would make a good ratting pellet, only trouble is I don't have a rat perm, I wish I had. They are pricey however when you consider there are 200 in a tin
