Lomand Pike

Had a day out fishing from the banks on Loch Lomond today. Managed to get one at 6lbs. I was fairly chuffed with it!

Lomond is home to some monsters, if you get the chance seek out books by john watson, he,s fished it a lot, and shows where. Gord burton has also done a lot there, it has a reputation for hard to catch, but big, wild fish.

well done [bANNED TEXT] lomonds not easy to catch on,but like baldie says their are some huge fish in their,balmaha and ardlui seem the favorite areas,contact the paas some of their guys will help with areas to fish,and on a water the size of lomond you may need it ,good luck for future trips

try the bottom end of loch tay, last year ah got 2 pike one 18lb and the other 21lb...and ah wasnt even tryin, it was just a guys weekend away on the piss thing...chucked in a smelt on an ancient trace i found in ma tackle box and ten minutes later the rod few across the shingle ( never even seen the float go down ).. ..got it in and 15 minutes later away it went again and ah got the 21 pounder...could av swore ah seen foxy sneeking about in the bushes with his gun just behind me..... :11: :11:

have you tried the kilburnie loch got a nice one at 17 and a half few weeks past some great fishing when its on

where abouts is that loch midnight,fished a few but never tried that one

alright [bANNED TEXT] the kilburnie lies between lochwhinock and kilburnie on the largs road well worth a try

Has none of you fellas ever picked up a Ferox Trout when after Pike. Just curious because its simialar fishing techniques

A mate of mine caught a 13 pound ferox trout from a highland loch we fish for pike, he caught it at night in a couple of feet of water on dead bait, it was'nt tiil one of us went over with a light to give him a hand that he realised what he had caught.

all right smudge i think the ferox trout have a tendancy to stay right down deep i think you would nead difrent gear only a thought

Some off the time they do, but alot are caught fishing just of the first ledge from the bank. To get that big they need food, alot of it, and theres more near the surface than very deep this is why i asked my question
