Boat Fishing For Mackerel Part 2.

Recommended Posts

As you may have guessed, I haven't sea fished for many years.

If I go and buy some mackerel feather rigs, what do I need to attach them to the main line. Google mentions things like shock leaders?

I assume there is a loop either end of the rig, so starting with the end of my line, what do i need to attach the rig and a weight? Swivels? Snaplinks? Knots?

You'd never think i'd been runner-up in the charity fishing comp would you? (I don't really like to talk about it though. )

Simple terms appreciated.

with a feather trace, as you say it has a loop on either end, i normally put a weight swivel on one end (the longer end) of the trace, and a weight swivel on the main line, then you can clip the trace on/off easily, (no knots to redo) with the weight, literally, just pass the loop through the eye of the swivel and over then end and pull....you need to have a swivel between your main line and trace to stop the main line from twisting and looping, plus if you need to change the trace.......just un-clip it, and put a new one on.......done

What is this weight swivel of which you speak? Is it like a snaplink?
