tomburras 2,730
I'm looking to buy a cheapish new scope soon for a spare gun and after watching last weeks airgun shows richter optik review it's tempting to have a go with one of these as the spec is great for a £100 scope with mounts. It is a 30 mm scope tube, apart from the obvious scope size difference - is there any advantage of a 30mm tube over 25 mm? Cheers! Tom. Quote Link to post
philpot 5,005
I saw that episode as well Tom and they do seem good value for money but I have not looked through one so no idea how good is the image from that glass. It was a thought for my wife's gun but she got a Leapers Bug Buster instead which suits her need very well. Quite a few on ebay I'm not well experienced to know if 30mm glass is better, logic says more light to reach the eye but I don't see any difference in brightness between my 25mm Hawke and my 30mm MTC buy there again, I have not used them in the gloom of an evening so perhaps that is when the 30mm comes into it's own. si brown 8,486
Think the new trend/ idea is 30mm tube smaller glass up front ! I've 1" and 30mm and can't tell the difference Atb si 1 Quote Link to post
bigmac 97kt 13,800
I could be wrong but i think the 30 gives you longer at dusk as it lets more light in where a 25 dose not unless its got bigger glass up front some one will be along soon to put me right if im wrong lol atvbmac  2 Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,558
If you look in the small search engine (top right) and type in "25mm..30mm" all the answers are there ( I think ?). atb Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
Cheers Mark williams iv not done that but you can't beat fresh opinions from people who may be newer members. If we all did that every time it would be a very quiet place. Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
A 30mm tube doesn't let more light in as that's down to the objective. It gives you more range of adjustment. Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
Cheers guys I thought so. Don't think iv ever owned a 30mm tube scope so taught I'd see people's opinions. There was a guy in the shop raving about these richter optik scopes. I remember my old one shifting zero every time I got the gun out but that was over a decade ago. Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
More range of adjustment? Thanks Walshie! Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
More range of adjustment? Thanks Walshie! A lot of target scopes are 30mm just for that reason, so they can get that few extra clicks when shooting long range. Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
I had a Richter many years ago and was thoroughly Underwhelmed. There was a thread recently somewhere that said newer models were good. If you get one an Honest review would be useful! 1 Quote Link to post
