You wouldn't of even needed to spay the bitch . Unless it's really really bad . Only need to keep it clean . And some times have a bit of tissue cut away so they can pee .

Yes so I'm told by others as well as you I did speak advice from breeder and from another terrierman before going to the vet both of which had never seen it and both told me the same thing get her to a vet asap so that is what I did I had never seen it before and the vet told me it was spay or pts .hence my previous post vets love the coin this is the last I'm gonna post on the subject people who want to judge me please carry on its fine by me

This is why nobody in the dog game tells the truth, people come out the woodwork to hammer yea, if he wasn't happy to keep the dog with the given condition then he done the right thing, he didn't come on here looking for advice, he consulted the breeder and other local terrier men and made a decision, end of. Lee if your bitch was as good as you say i cant for the world understand why you pts.The other dog you have JOE you have said that it does not look like he is going to make a digging dog as he has come away or failed to find or something along them lines and your bitch pup may not either[hope she does] so what possessed you to pts a bitch that was doing the buisness even if you could not have bred of her she was a worker.Have you still got the Joe dog as you will hardly put him across a bitch seeing that he is not reliable,in reality all you are left with is the bitch pup.Lee it was your choice and it was your buisness but i reckon you made a big boo boo.

Its not too many know alls its the fact that those of us that have been breeding and working terriers for a very long time actually "care" for the stock we produce or keep, I hate to see suffering but Lee had options so in my mind anyone that can callously PTS a bitch as easily as that would not spend too much time looking for his terrier when its slipped to ground, I've said it many times on here that he is green as grass and gullible in the least, the biggest surprise for me was when "Foxdropper" (a man of years in the game) was prepared to give him a pup, that would be a big mistake imo and at least 10 years too soon, its like passing your test then buying a Ferrari, I love all my dogs like my children and they are treated as such and in reply they give me everything,never questioning anything I ask of them,without the bond we have nothing, so the least I can do is see they get care when its needed, WM

Theres plenty of working bitches around that will never be bred from and are dug regularly, brood bitches need to be the best of the best, and if theyre good enough to be bred from but cant for some reason they should still give many years top class digging.

Fair point Rob and one that has been revised of late .I was one of the lads Lee turned to for advice but unfortunately he chose to pts the bitch rather than get another opinion and took the word of his "breeder"to be gospel.

Get a second opinion from another vet and not make hasty decision .what's done is done and will make the lad think a bit in the future .

We've all got regrets, I once put a very good bitch down after a trip to the vets, she said she had cancer in her ear. The vet stunk of drink and could only just stand up, you take the word of these pricks as gospel and a huge percentage of the time they've no more idea than you.
