don't bother with a spring air rifle mate, there old hat now as the pcp's are so much better, get yourself an hw100, aa s410 etc....

:hmm:
:hmm:

OK so we both seem confused by your statement,so please explain how they are "better" :tongue2:

i knew it ruffle a few feathers by my statement..... but i personally prefer the pcp's over a springer, because.....there multi shot, quieter, no recoil, and really accurate, i've never had a problem shooting a springer....a few pellets and i'm bang on, but ever since i got a pcp, i've never looked back, the speed between pellet to pellet whilst out hunting has been a big advantage, it's like moving with the times......when a car use to have only 4 speed, wind up windows, and two speed wipers....then getting a 5 speed car with electric windows and 4 speed wipers, you like the move forward.....or.....fishing with a cane,or solid fibreglass rod, then using a carbon fibre rod, they both do the same thing.....but the newer versions feel, look, and work that much better, i would always point someone looking for an air rifle in the pcp direction without a shadow of doubt.....i'm sure someone will tell me i've committed a big sin, and that you should always keep a springer in the cupboard to keep yourself on aim..but in all honestly, i never have been one that needs to keep myself in check, i must of got it off my dad, he was a crack shot with guns, a natural.....i wondered if he was related to Annie Oakley.......

You should get your self out with Simon (pianoman) you with your pcp and him with one of his springers

the man often takes out up to 80 rabbits an outing with his hw,s 80 or 77

i no who my money will be on

and it would not be the pcp

look....I've never claimed to be the best...and it's not a contest, i'm sure there are some people that are a very good shot with a spring air rifle, and so am i, but it's pretty naive of you to say, one person is better with a gun than the other one, when you have never seen the other person shoot, just to clear things up...i haven't stopped using a spring rifle....because i can't shoot one....(because i can).....i prefer the pcp's, simply because of the move forward in air rifles, in my opinion leaving the springer in the cupboard,

If price is not a consideration then the HW100 and an air bottle would be my recommendation.

I always think it's the finger behind the trigger that dates the range ? , depending on the distance some folk would need a rim fire

Why just get one if price is unimportant? Id treat a RFD like a pick and mix.

Come on Tilly, everything on thl is a contest! I know what your getting at I just disagree,i think they are still equal and as capable, just a preference thing,i suppose you can't be wrong in which ever you choose...

Back on track I'd say,hw97/95 or aa tx/ps, or hw100/rapid,really is hard to answer and as you can see divides opinion, ask a dozen men,get a dozen answers, get in that shop and have a field day with your blank cheque! When you do decide and get your hands on one we like a pic or two...

I don't think it's about ruffling feathers as much as it sounds like you are dismissing a perfectly fine and capable tool as obsolete or useless somehow,i wouldn't say it's like a cane rod compared to carbon as that's a completely different thing,in terms of rifles they are made of the same materials,springer/pcp,just powered differently,a pcp doesn't feel better in the hand it feels the same? The difference is in firing with the recoil being the only difference, they are as accurate, consistant and quiet as a pcp,the multi shot is an advantage I agree, even though you can get springers with that option,so to be fair I'd say they are equal and hope you can atone for your sins!! :tongue2:

i have been to church this morning to confess my sins for disrespecting the spring air rifle.....i can't divulge his advice on confidentially grounds...... but i bumped into him at the back of the church....and guess what.......he only had a pcp slung over his shoulder :yahoo:

Having seen first hand what an incredible shot pianoman, Simon, is and what he is able to do wth my TX let alone his own HW springers, made me quickly change my opinion of what a springer can acheive. The SPRINGER IN THE RIGHT HANDS IS EVERY BIT AS ACCURATE AS A PCP. The reality however is that IMO few people are CONSISTANTLY as good with a springer as they are with a PCP.
