Malt 379
I'd recommend a good machete. One of the places we go, has a load of gorse bushes. I bought a cheap one of the net, and after the first round of hacking, the f**king thing ended up like a bannana! Quote Link to post

stubby 175
hi there mate i do take a hunting knife with me ya knife is for gutting ya rabbits mate, not chopping down brambles etc, this list can go on and on, only you can deciede what to take and what not to, each outing, you'll remind yaself of something extra to take next time, purse nets, you can never have enough off, so a bag of 40 to start, just imagine taking 10 nets, and coming across a 12 holer, you can be sure, that the rabbits will bolt from the 2 un netted holes, but deciede where you going with this first, you 1st post states hawking, ferreting to hawks, isi'nt so much about catching rabbits, I know people that ferret to buzzards, and the enjoyment they get, is flying the bird, catching a rabbit is a bonus however, if you want to go out catching rabbits, to feed ya hawk, then get yaself some nets and start on small warrens and see how you get on Quote Link to post

gnipper 6,498
Always carry a piece of the company 'blue roll' with me, everyone at work does. My cousin was on 15 to 1 twice with it in his arse pocket Its better than cutting the linings out yer pockets or the front off your T shirt Quote Link to post
Neal 1,873
My advice would be to take everything you think you might need, as everyone has different opinions of what's essential, and then gradually, over a period of time, leave behind the things you find you don't need. I usually let my back and shoulders dictate what to take as I get to my permission on Shanks' pony. Quote Link to post

bullet 125
if you ferreting for your hawk why bother with nets? get a ferret, ferret carrying box, locator and collar, shovel and off you go, you dont even need a knife to gut your rabbits, dont forget you have to carry this lot so try to keep to as light as you can Quote Link to post
