New Toy But Not For Me

Recommended Posts

For a few weeks now, my wife has shown some interest in shooting with an air rifle, she is already an experienced clay shooter and fancied having her turn with the rifle. I have been on the lookout for a small lightweight rifle, the obvious one was an Ultra but as she is buying it, did not want to spend that much on a rifle and then a scope as she may not be that keen after using the gun a while.

Whilst we were in my local RFD, she spied on the shelf, a Brocock Aim-X Contour .22 which although it is a single shot gun, really appealed to her. Very light to carry around the perm and despite a small shot count, ideal for her. We had a couple of issues with the scope fitted, Simmons and swapped it for a Leapers Bug Buster 3-9 x 38 AO IR, very compact and not bad glass, in fact a friend of mine has two which he loves and so does my wife. My stumpy mod has also found a new home and sits perfectly on this gun although the horses over my garden wall are not so keen on the louder TX now however, no doubt I will have to get another to keep the peace.

We struggled to find a bag but the RFD came out with the one in the photo which produced a laugh, look at the name.

She has some experience of pistols and rifles so I think she will get some fun out of this little gun.

You hit the nail on the head David along with some woodies that like to sit in the trees above a place where I set my hide. Now need to get some pellets to try, got AA Field but want some others including Mitch's FAP. Now there is a point, where is the best place to get them as nobody in my area sells them.

Very good choice" EDIT philpot" nothing wrong at all with that Brocock. Hope your wife enjoys shooting it, and also enjoys Air Rifle shooting for a very long time.

All the best to you and your wife.

Edit

Sorry Phil do not know why I put David's name. must be thinking off all that junk many years back, or that drink.

Bloody hell, that is a compact rifle - my daughter has a Ratbag for her HW30 so, that gives me some perspective

Nice rifle  I'm looking forward to hearing how she gets on hunting with it.

I can feel some seriously competetive target shooting coming on at your house soon Phil.

Most women that I know who shoot air rifles are really bloody good shots so get practising pal.?

Lovely compact looking rifle too.

Yes I think perhaps you could be right there Matt, better watch my step me thinks.

There is still space in the bag with the gun inside. Gun length 32.5 inches with the mod fitted, 27 inches without.
