walshie 2,804
Has anyone (except Born Hunter ) read it? I bought a copy the other day from a charity shop for a quid. It's supposed to explain the big bang, black holes and stuff in layman's terms. I've got 1/3 of the way through it and I don't understand it. It's definitely in English, but that's where my understanding ends. Is Hawking just so intelligent that he thinks the average person can comprehend this? Or am I just thick? shepp 2,285
I read it when I was 20, 26 years later I think I would struggle with it more. From what a can remember I at best I understood a quarter of it.
Jonjon79 13,358
I tried it - it is hard going. I think you're right about Hawking.... most of us mere mortals need a degree to understand his version of laymans terms.
