green lurchers 16,802
its easy to look good up against non quality sides , We've looked shot against worst sides than that in the past mate.. Not sure if that's a compliment or not lol I get your point NK , I look at it like this its no good shining against average , when we look good against a top ten side I,l sit up , if we play any of the top 5 sides like we did Russia were cooked , rooney is a subber hes not decisive he lacks pace dosnt want to loose the ball so wont take a man on , he wont get the room against a better side and will get turned over , hes no paul scholes They turned over Germany good and proper n the build up, only a friendly but Getmany v England ain't ever a friendly. Rooney certainly divides opinions, his stats speak for themselves IMO, you won't hear many professional footballers saying too much had about him, he's a players player IMO,... I know the point you're making though, whether he can mix it in the middle of the park with the best is yet to be seen. But no he no he ain't no Scholes, he was on another planet!! not doubting the friendly show , I'm also not doubting his goals for England either altho in tournaments not qualifiers dnt think its that good but hes a goal scorer not a playmaker I think over 35 goals in the box , were hanging on to a has been and playing him in a role that suits who , a playmaker should do just that not just spray a ball out wide or collect the ball and give it back or sidewards , wheres the cutting thru ball ,the ball that opens em up , hel get found out in his role if we beat wales ,I'm not holing me breth on that either lol

WILF 47,617
All I mean is it depends on what you class as good if you get my drift, Leyton Orient good is still shit compared to Manchester Unt good.......if that makes sense ! Lol Exactly.....so maybe its you that thinks we are better than what we are if your not happy with that performance ? As an average international side i was well pleased with the performance just a shame about the result. I don't think we are better than we are, I think we are bloody awful......but there is no excuse for it if you get my drift mate. Some may call me unrealistic but I just prefer to call dross dross.
Lab 10,979
Well mate, they brought him off IMHO because he was well off the pace, he (understandably ) struggled in the position. I think teams will have a look at that and get after him if he plays there again....and I think they will catch him out. Wiltshire looked much brighter and confident when he came on and he played higher up. I don't see how old Woy can drop Rooney back in there mate ? Can't agree with that mate, I honestly thought he was too class and hardly put a foot wrong, helped in defends when needed and his passing was sublime, long all short he looked after the ball properly, I actually thought you would've enjoyed his display. Heard somewhere he was likened to pirlo for Italy, now that's maybe a step to far but not a mile away IMO . I will agree that wilshere looked very bright when he came on, hard to squeeze them all in as Llana also had a decent game, I also thought he had a good game. Personally if he's not good enough to start upfront I don't think he should be playing over a proper midfielder but that's just me. Oh and the Pirlo comment was on talk sport today, I laughed, a lot!!! Saying that they couldn't comment on other games without coming back to England. It does get a bit annoying after a while. I think we,ve had the conversation before mate as West Ham fans we support an average club and therefore dont expect too much.....i dont see it any different with England myself.
WILF 47,617
Yep you are right, only difference being we don't get the pick of the best players available free of charge as a club side.
j j m 6,560
I'd like to see england do well but they need to learn how to not let a goal in in the dying minutes/and I think Roy made the wrong sub's at the wrong time /vardy should of got a start from the beginning
bracken boy 584
Wilf I agree with u on that , there's no excuse as we should be better from game to game, for me there must be a mental block somewhere, or are we confused how to play as fast prem style or try and compete like the spainish and skilful teams, I just don't know.
