neil82 1,080
miss bikes like hell, nuttiest one was a tweaked x7 that ate lc350`s for breakfast (and later when i sold it to a mate and got a z750 for myself i realised how fast that bloody thing was), thing I eventually realised was that being a nutter who never got 1,000 miles out of a rear tyre was going to kill me, even got caught at one time well into 3 figure speeds in a 30 mph area (that crazy x7), did think about getting another bike after a ten year break but soon (think it was 3rd gear) understood that the bikes now are a hell of a lot quicker than the stuff I cut my teeth on and the roads are a hell of a lot busier, i`ll now stick to Dolgellau to welshpool taking 55 minutes in my truck over 28 minutes on the x7, think though that with the amount that stroker drank and the cost of fuel now theres not much difference in how much that journey cost in pound notes

Theory tomorrow afternoon, then lessons starting the week after next. Not sure what I'll buy when I pass my test (any suggestions welcome), but somewhere down the line I can see me on one of these....
Rake aboot 4,935
Wouldn`t touch a Ducati mesell. Pains in the hoop and unreliable.
walshie 2,804
I think modern Ducatis are a lot better than they used to be. I had 2 different models in the 90s and they were both diabolically unreliable. Looked and sounded good though (when they weren't back at the workshop). I'm an Aprilia man now. Italian style, sound good, but Austrian rotax engines.
Rake aboot 4,935
Yup, used rotax engines in a couple of bikes as well, including an Aprillia Toureg 600. Great bike. Still wouldn't touch a Ducati though

Not sure what I'll buy when I pass my test (any suggestions welcome), but somewhere down the line I can see me on one of these.... good to here your getting your bike licence..nice one, the ducati is a different ride to other bikes due to it being a v twin, i use to have the 996 sps, it was a pig around town and in slow moving traffic, i had to slip the clutch and keep shifting between 1st and 2nd gear to keep moving slow, but that's the nature of the v twin, whereas my brothers r1 just purred a long nicely like a knitting machine being an inline four, but once you got on the open roads it was a joy to ride, they were really designed for the race track, as for reliability, the early ones were bad...especially when they got a bit of water on the electrics, but the newer ones are just as reliable as most others now, i also had the honda sp1 v twin...now that was a lot better to ride, a lot smoother and easier in slower traffic....but that's a honda for yeah, but the v twins have the most delicious sound...deep thumping sound, my duke had two big bore termignoni race pipes, and the sp1 had two race pipes also....and boy...what a goose bumping sound... but don't get this musical note confused with the tractor sound of the harley... iv'e had my fair share of bikes....honda's, yamaha's, suzuki's, kawasaki's, ktm, and rode a lot of others, and the make that stands out the most for feeling superior...is the honda, build quality, smoother, and handling, some say..they are boring and predictable to ride, but i say....if you have 100% faith in your bike, you will ride that bike to the best of your ability, so you wouldn't go far wrong with a honda....but, it all comes down to what you like the look of, another mans peach is another mans poison..
