Blackbriar 8,569
I think it's accepted wisdom that Cameron is dead in the water , in the event of a referendum loss. But a narrow win probably won't help his position, either. He has long said that he will not contest a third election, so a win would let him stand down on a high (of sorts), avoid civil war inhis Party, and allow the new leader a good run-in. Who would be shoe-horned in ? Osborne has lost the momentum, after several policy U-turns, Theresa May hasn't exactly covered herself in glory during the referendum campaign, and after all his talk of "the sovereignty of the electorate", could Boris really be PM via deals in smoky back rooms ? Whoever it eventually is, would the voters accept a PM they didn't have a say on ? General Election before Christmas, anyone ?

But if it's a win for "Leave", he's the obvious candidate ? Tory civil war, I think !

neil82 1,080
I can certainly agree that whatever direction the vote goes the current leadership from both of the main parties should go, who to choose as the next leader is something that will be a far harder choice if we have any say over it, the main problem with politics is when they throw their coat in with any party their own personal beliefs go out of the window no matter what they say when they knock on your door looking for your vote, they have to toe the party line, same goes for even your local council at a lower level, it says something when the only guy I trust in my local council is actually an immigrant from Tobago who`s only loyalties are to the people who he represents, not any party
BGD 6,436
Farage should be given a chance to run and sort out this mess of a Country. Even if he has to join the Tory party to do so with maybe Boris in the wings for the future ? The rest are not worth a tab end. If the general public wanted him they would have elected him by now. Five times he's stood for parliament and five times he's failed.

BGD 6,436
Down to the usual suspects backed by the media tagging him as a racist bigot. Maybe this Leave - Remain vote and the head to heads on TV have woke people up that he is a Realist not a racist. His Ukip party polled very well at the last general election Far far better than the SNP but due to disproportionate representation only won 2 seats to SNP's 52 or what ever it was . The political demographics are changing fast not Only here in Great Britain but in other European country's . And about time too . No point whining about the electoral system, that's the system UKIP or any other party have to win in. We had our chance to change it and we rejected it. I wonder, how did you vote in the AV referendum?
