maybe he thinks England should get points deducted for tearing up the port area and attacking the police for two days before they got a hiding off the Russians

Where you had that from mate ?......i aint got eyes in the back of my nut but i didnt see or hear anything like that......from the minute we checked in we was getting told about attacks from local French/Africans etc.......our fans aint whiter than white i know that but on this occasion i dont think our lot did anything that wasnt started by others.... in the main.

All over the main & sports media from Friday morning (reporting Thursday night). Some quotes and links..

Police in Marseille have deployed tear gas for a second evening to disperse England fans gathered ahead of the Euro 2016 football championships. Officers in riot gear clashed with fans who threw bottles at police in the streets of the Old Port district. The fresh clashes in Marseille began outside a pub in the same area that had been affected by trouble on Thursday and continued well into the night.

Police in riot gear clashed with England fans, and used tear gas for a third day and a water cannon to try and stop outbursts of violence.

I read your first post with interest, as I know from previous stuff you've posted that you've followed England a fair bit and know the score with what happened out there, and would give a good and grounded account of what you saw. And if you read my earlier posts, you'll see I've no interest in digging up England fans for what they did or didn't do..., I'm just not buying Max's version that the innocent English fans were sitting having a quiet beer when they were set about by African immigrants.

England may not be the force they once were, but surely they've not all chucked it or were stuck at home with their passports confiscated?

The video shows the England fans goading and then throwing bottles at the French coppers. There's no context regards what happened before this etc., so I'll take it at face value.

It also shows (at about 5.00) the English mob (maybe a couple of hundred?) getting run down the street by a couple of dozen guys mostly in black shirts (Russians?). Not like England that. I've read a few reports about the Russian cnuts attacking ordinary punters that were only there for the game, both in & out of the ground, and there's no glory or honour in that. They have however taken England's mantle and established themselves as the 'team to beat' so far this tourney. Maybe Mad Max should write to Theresa May and get her to let the bulldogs off the leash right enough.

oh ok mate its just a break down in translation when you said tearing up i thought you meant " tear up " as in fighting :D....im probably a bit too old school i dont see all this throwing bottles and plastic chairs from a safe distance as football hooliganism thats just something that seems to have crept in.....i agree with you in many ways i truly believe these Russians are back where we was 30 years ago where they want to stand and fight people,i dont have a problem with that but many of our lads over there are these youngsters who think shouting out England songs while drinking beer constitutes representing your country in footie violence !!......its embarrassing and in some ways you could say dont talk the talk if you cant walk the walk fair enough.......but theres no excuse for running at families and shirters mate thats just wrong and never what footie violence was all about.....even fighting at footie has unwritten rules and these Russians are breaking the biggest rule of the lot.

Which brings us back to taking some responsibility, rather than making excuses, who started it & what constitutes proper football violence! Haha.....

What I've seen the Russians doing is real low life stuff, but we've got to hold our hands up as well & accept we've got plenty of fcukwits over there bringing it on to the genuine fans......

To me proper footie violence is when sets of likeminded folk bash f**k out of each other...... not when organised firms of French/African/Russians steam at guys with their families and start kicking anyone up in the air who happens to be wearing an England shirt !

I agree we have got lads there who are pretending to live up to a reputation whos heart is not really in it and so maybe serves them right........im not sure if im a genuine fan or not i was well into all that nonsense years ago and to this day i,ll have a stand up with anybody but im f****d if im running round the streets like a teenager throwing chairs and tables about i go purely for the football these days but these Russians were simply not interested in who was a genuine fan and who wasnt.

i am not having any pop no more than you are at me. As for the rules of gratuitous violence in a street fight there arent any, as a man of your claimed decades of experience would know. No Queensburies or referee the cobbles is not the place to mix it if people either dont know or are not willing to fight fire with fire the Russians as I said are trained they dont observe any genevas and are some of the most violent people you could meet not all but a hard core as for not knowing what to say next think that hat fits you better Alf
