England Fans Have Started Playing Up At Euros

Surely serious questions need to be asked about Russia hosting the World Cup? Their authorities clearly don't take football violence seriously can we trust them to keep the fans safe?

especially gay football fans, you'll have to just watch at home haha,

Did you expect this much trouble gnasher ?

Are you planning another trip out . before all this trouble I was thinking , I'm having some more outings at football when the kids get a bit bigger , but I think fishing and golf is more likely ...

We had to expect something mate.....hooliganism in Russia is big at the moment and they see England as the holy grail.....apparently the fan forums had been warning people not to discuss what bars they was meeting in for ages leading up to the tournament so it wasnt a surprise really......the only surprise was how organised they were and how they just havent grasped that families/kids/shirters are out of bounds !!

Yes we are leaving for Lille later today, back on Friday then fly to St Etienne Sunday and back home Tuesday with options for further games when/if we get through.....its like any England tournament mate if you want to find trouble you,ll find it and if you dont you wont its just these Cossaks dont seem to really care they are so intent on making a name for themselves.

Not that I know shit but all this strikes me as being massively politically motivated, more than football or hooliganism. The Russians are floating on a wave of nationalism and unchallenged and aggressive foreign policy. Doesn't football have a history of being a rich environment for grass roots nationalism? Sport more generally has long been a theater for the proxy battles of international politics! I think some Russian professor summed it up pretty well, "Our fans in Marseille are a copy of Russian foreign policy".
